There might just be a lack of expressed surprise at this news.

We had a shipment of 200000 masks confiscated by the americans somewhere in Singapore I believe. It's everyone for himself now it seems. I believe Germany also has an export ban in place. Good for China they can sell their product. Every crisis is a business opportunity, so goes a Chinese saying im told.

I believe they also happily took in a lot of masks in aid back when it looked like this was only a Chinese problem. Now selling those at a premium too.

why can't we make masks in this  country if they make them in usa?  although probably a bit late now

I was disgusted by this, until I learned the money was only resting in his account.

I think buying PPE from China at this juncture is not prudent and could be crass given the dodgy stuff supplied by them just recently eg 3 out of 4 (certain) PPE tested were inaccurate or dodgy. Ireland, are they so desperate? if so, why China and not Singapore or South East Asian countries?

China are milking the situation and they were the cause of this almighty disaster upon everyone in the world.
Report 1st time poster April 5, 2020 2:12 PM BST
we cant expect the largest economy in the world usa to make its own masks when the uk,s complete Brexit policy is based on the same sed americans not been able to manufacture a TEAPOT, LaughLaughLaughLaugh

Ireland, are they so desperate?

Yes, we have basically turned our economy into a tax haven. Everything is now outsourced and they can produce nothing.

The entire countries testing capacity is 1500 tests a day. Now sending another 2k tests for processing in Germany.

Only now realising nursing homes are a hot spot for the virus despite Stevie Wonder being able to tell them. The head of private nursing homes ignore government pressure to keep open visiting arrangements and took their own decision to lockdown thank god. It would be a bloodbath had they listened to the government

Leo Varadkar has gone to ground only popping his head up for PR photos and Veg and food supply factories.
He is on photo surrounded by 20 people none at social distance smiling at Irelands equivalent of the Nightingale. His PR did a circuit of it showing only beds and a pack of Dettol wipes on a bedside tables....no oxygen, medical equipment.

The Irish health minister is on twitter answering soppy letters from kids telling him what a great job he is doing.....LOL.    https://twitter.com/SimonHarrisTD/status/1246154149827354631

The head of the Irish health service is an Project manager..... Zero medical background.

The minister for finance is only answering pre submitted questions from hacks and only then his PA is allowed to actually ask the question

As an aside they spent 1m on an industrial printer before this 5hit happened for the Dublin Parliament and only when it arrived on site did they realise it was too big to fit through the doors and is now in storage and out of use.

You think Boris is bad? He is f**king Churchill compared to the Irish Government.

PS The Irish media raise no questions on this...Its complete whataboutary on Trump and Boris....
Report impossible123 April 5, 2020 3:19 PM BST
Oh dear! Very sorry to hear that. I hope the Chinese stuff turn out ok.

No chance of Germany helping given Germany are keeping all of their PPE for their own. They even banned export to an EU country, I believe.

The Chinese stockpiling PPE at the expense of the West?

Surely not?   But, but, but, The WHO and the MSM keep telling us they are heroes

The head hocho at WHO is a complete idiot. He's a friend of China (and Mugabe) and praised China for an "early lockdown" that prevented further catastrophe.
