how can you hope to contain anything when you have 6 flights arriving from Rome, 4 from New York and 3 from Spain ?
why are cabin crew still being forced to work onboard these flights ?

I posted this on another thread but I'll repost:
"Sorry but I keep hearing people go on about planes. That ceased to become an issue ages ago. There are already like 43000 KNOWN cases in the UK and real figure may be 10x that, i.e. it might be 430000. I don't think stressing over a few more on planes is a big issue, assuming they take precautions ON the planes like maybe one person per 3 seats or whatever.

We've loads of people abroad that need to get back, it's not like some t1t from Barcelona is going to be going on a jolly to visit a few closed tourist attractions."

It's a red herring going on about flights. We may well have 0.5 million people here infected.

Given we know there are still loads of Brits stuck abroad, often being held in contempt by the locals, been told to get home, how are they supposed to get home? Do you not give a *ck about them?

I think the figure I heard on the radio was currently 1 MILLION british people are abroad!

I think it would be stupid if the flights were full (unless they needed to be) but surely they could have people separated and wearing masks.

4 flights from new york and 6 from rome.  it's actually unbelievable reg.

lets take the new york flights as an example.  500 people, all sitting smack next to each other in an enclosed space for 9 hours.  is that asking for trouble ?

6 planes landing from rome in one day at one airport doesn't sound like repatriation.  sounds a bit more like an exodus ..

"Jc if all the flights were repatriation ones I would be happy but I have seen no info to say that they are"
And who says they aren't?

And also thinking about it,
"GERMANY 840, 1130, 1135, 130, 240
SEOUL 230  BEIJING 545"
If any statistics are correct, there is probably a lower statistical chance the people on those flights will be infected than the people here. They are DILUTING it :)

I do agree we should perhaps do what they did during the SARS thing, check temperature of people arriving (or even before they board) but to stop all flights. No. It's not a zombie death plague. It's bad, I'm not saying it isn't, but we need to keep some perpsective.

I can't believe there are many people on these flights that aren't travelling essentially. Pretty much every airline is going down to a skeleton sevice as nobody is flying.

Probably ghost planes with hardly anyone on it or no passengers at all, EU law says they have to safeguard their positions at major airports by using them, though I thought that rule was relaxed or reduced, was 80% of their flights on a slot.

I've read/heard countless reports about British people stuck abroad saying it's a freaking NIGHTMARE trying to get home and all they want to do is get home. Places like India are now hellish, even Australia is now kicking all Brits on some visas out apparently, and apparently there are no flights, so they are stuck in limbo. In fact now I think about it I heard (radio news) them saying some airlines are specifically doing repat flights for the UK government, chartered I think they said? Some you'd expect like BA but also Easyjet, which I though funny. (I like EJ, HATE Ryanair).

Yea I stopped posting for a while myself. I graduated to CC from elsewhere ...
Perhaps they thought I was dead when I stopped posting? Probably a couple of them wished it :)

There is infinitely more to life than BF CC (and if there isn't you should look at yourself).
You are right though, tonight has been more civilised!

Perhaps there is meeting of the Grand Lodge Of The Special tonight.
