10,000 daily tests have now been achieved for two consecutive days across the UK.
This comes the day after Matt Hancock set a very ambitious target of achieving 100,000 tests per day in England alone by the end of April.
Below are two charts that provide a summary of the testing performed to date.
The first chart simply shows the number of daily tests reported from 1 March to 3 April.
The second chart shows the number of positive tests reported and the associated percentage.
As you can see, the percentage of positive tests is rising.
The first day it breached 10% was 18 March, the highest reported figure (44%) was on 1 April.
The cumulative number of positive tests is 38,168 out of the 173,784 tests performed, or 22%.

40 % plus are testing positive ?? If that is the Case LOCK DOWN is a waste of time
Or are these frontline Medical staff ?? What are the tests for people who have it or have had it ?? If 40 % of NHS staff have it ,it all seems a little pointless building these New medical Units ?? As it progresses there will be no one to man them ?/ | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

the uk are very bad at testing,how do they know if people are not contacting the virus by going into hospitals if they still refuse to do tests,the must test,test, test,and stop saying they have flattened the curve ,they could be creating their own curve and will not know until the test all the staff of their hospitals.
its like a football manager saying we are playing well but we expect to lose six or seven nil,because we never looked at any video's of our opponents so we don't know what they are going to do next.  | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The data is for everyone who has been tested, and you'd expect it to progressively show a higher proportion of positive tests if the criteria for testing is those showing progressively more extreme symptoms.

Are they showing Anti Body/recovered tests is the Key ? As those people should be able to carry on ...

i think they have to wait for 5 weeks after recovery before a Anti Body test can be taken,but the jury is still out in most countries as to whether a second wave of Corona will occur.

They don't have a reliable "have I had it" test, my understanding is that these figures are purely for the "do I have it" test.

So the high risk idea of the UK hoping to ride out the storm and get the healthy people back to work to save the economy is a crazy crazy gamble,and many many people could die that could be saved,and they could end up starting all over again ,with the famous statement "we want you all to wash your hands"

And in UK plan when they do get an end to the virus ,everyone in the land will still be isolated unless a person is fit to work,and that's all a person will be allowed to do if they are fit and healthy.in other words a slave for the government.

The percentage of positive tests for the last two days was actually 54% and 56%. You carried out that number of tests but only tested about 7,700 people, ie a lot were tested twice with a lot of false negatives.

lurka, I've used the total figures released for the UK.
As you have pointed out, this doesn't specify the number of people, merely the number of tests. Separate data has been released for England only which does quote numbers of tests and the number of people tested. This data set didn't specify the number of positive tests, but did show that 11,764 tests were performed on 7,651 people. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

If such high figures of people having corona are accurate, the mortality rates/ danger from the virus is much lower than thought and time lockdown is brought to an end as most on here probably have it without realising. It means the fatality rate is well under 1% although the doom mongers will have you believe otherwise- the fact so many have it is actually a good thing as it shows how mild it is for the vast majority of people

We don't know how many people have had it without previously testing positive.
That's why they are so keen to roll out an antibody test. Regarding the mortality rate, I don't believe that this has been seen as the key factor. Whilst it is important, it is the number of people who will require critical care at any given point in time that has generated the biggest concern. Government figures yesterday for testing were displayed in a new format, showing both cumulative figures for four metrics along with the daily figure.
However, if you compare the cumulative figures to the cumulative figure from the prior day, there are discrepancies.
The biggest discrepancy is in the number of people tested, the claimed daily figure of 9,740 being 5,396 higher than the calculated figure of 4,344. Is this how they are hoping to achieve their 100,000 tests per day figure, hoping that the public are unable to subtract the prior days cumulative figure from the current day cumulative  | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

If the numbers were 100% accurate you would expect the numbers of Tests, Positives and Deaths to tally but you would not expect the numbers of People Tested to tally. Your Calculated People Tested should be the number of people who were tested for the first time and your Difference should be the number of people who were tested again

if the UK do not ramp up their contact testing they will not find out the spreading pattern of the virus,this in turn will will cause them to have to go back to day 1.their problem with ramping up the testing will show many front line workers who have the virus or are carrying the virus.This in turn will deplete their front line staff,the testing is a must,they need to test,test,test,and as long as they keep waffling about testing the lock down period will be longer.its a catch 22 for the UK government because they listened to Trump.
