...or thousands

I'm watching a lot more tv lately, especially news etc, for obvious reasons.

But has anyone else noticed that people are emphasising the word 'Thousand' a lot more nowadays. I first noticed it with Donald Trump.... But it seems to be everyone in the media nowadays.  ....

....or am I just cracking up?

I've never used the word ThousandS in my life. It's not normal.

Well actually it depends on the context. I mean I would never ever say
"100 Thousands". But I might say "can't really think how many women I've bedded, but it must be into the thousands".
Same grammatical rule I'm sure apples to hundred[s], dozen[s], probably any such number word. Or numberwhang.
