Worrying times as politicians and technocrats use the virus as cover to extend powers.
You have China already using social credit and using phones to track people and issue green passes to allow those who want to move about whilst restricting others.
It is possible Germany might do similar.

Hungary's parliament endorsed a bill yesterday giving nationalist premier Viktor Orban the sweeping new powers he says he needs to fight the new coronavirus pandemic.
Critics at home and abroad have condemned the "anti-coronavirus defence law", saying it gives Mr Orban unnecessary and unlimited power and is a means of cementing his position rather than battling the virus.
After declaring a state of emergency on 11 March, the new law gives Mr Orban the power to indefinitely rule by decree until the government decides the emergency is over.
It removes the current requirement for MPs to approve any extensions to decrees. Elections cannot be held either during the emergency period.
It also introduces jail terms of up to five years for anyone spreading "falsehoods" about the virus or the measures against it, stoking worries for press freedom.
The measures come into effect as of midnight last night.

I have a feeling that western governments are going to end up with a lot more powers after this that will not be stopped after it ends.

In the UK Boris pushed for new laws but people like David Davies got sunset clauses put in.

But: The article says it's powers to stop bull****s spreading lies about coronavirus, not people who criticise him?
Orban has a big target for lefties as he stands up for what his people want (how novel!) and doesn't put up with the multikulti bullsh1t, so they smear him. He has a 2/3 majority, he's not exactly unpopular.
Maybe he will turn out to misuse such powers and I totally accept I may be wrong and he'll prove to be an Immanuel Kant, but any accusation against him has to be put through the filter of knowing how much he winds up "progressives", to whom calling everyone "fascist" is a primary tactic.

Good checking, it's always good to know the agenda of those behind a media piece. You see two or three comments on here, know instantly what slant the Guardian has laid on them, and can dismiss it.

There are only two countries really in Europe that have stood up to the EU pushing the migrants Merkel asked for onto them unwanted, Hungary and Poland, and only those two are of course constantly accused of turning fascist by the left. You have to ask if it's a coincidence, given over the last few years we've had this quite ridiculous endless scream of "racist" and "fascist" etc coming at Brexit voters, Tories, anyone who doesn't 100% hate Trump or is in any way not on message. If Orban IS a dictatorship, it seems strange he apparently won 2/3 of the seats in the country in the election 2 years ago, after years of all these accusations, in the internet age where people can speak freely. Seems strange. Then again we live in the UK where the SJWs and Corbynites were screaming that Boris was a "fascist" for calling an election just a few months ago, and still call him a fascist. YOu've got to realise there are morons out there.
The woke BBC of course DESPISE the Hungarian politicans, yet avoided covering all the violence and civil unrest and protestors hurt by the authorities in "democratic" France that'll only I presume have stopped recently... The hateful sneering and aggressive Emily Maitlis interview of that polite Hungarian politican a year or two back was something to behold.
