Stay at home...try telling that to the group of alkies congregate outside my home every day...its a shame the virus wasn't selective  ..

That is the fear Deplasterer.

The thing is they knew this two months ago and they have planned for this for years. Unfortunately they have not executed this plans.

Forgetting all that yes that is and always has been the fear. To many patients with breathing difficulties will bring the NHS to its knees. Not enough ventilators to keep people alive and Doctors being forced to decide who is to live and who is to die. The old will be sacrificed fir the young without doubt and another fear of the Government is that when we see our old folk being left to die on beds and trolleys like fish out of water anger will rise and civil u rest will follow.

I think most realise now how serious this is. There are a few of course who only think of themselves. One last thing and maybe I am l lucky but for me this is just an inconvenience and irritating. I have enough food and money not to need to worry. My mother is protected and safe. I don’t need to worry about anyone else. Many of us have little to complain about with regard to our situation.

There were 1452 new cases yesterday.

And 1,427 the day before.

Active cases 20 March 3,741

And, of course, that doesn't include those being told to stay at home.

That site is spot on, you are simply misreading it.

Click on the yesterday button on the world page.

Or click on UK yo get access to more detailed UK specific data.

The four countries of the UK report their data at different times throughout the day.
Scotland and Wales usually report around 3pm, Northern Ireland report a little bit later, England later again (they were very late yesterday).

I use it(WOM) for an idea Kenny, there are no/few test kits and the undocumented number is huge(imo,on what i've heard,that is conjecture tho).

The site is ok in the sense that the documented numbers are giving a fair idea of the quick rise of this i think.

Me da's the same Pa, sees the Grandchildren from the window,be like that for 3 to 6 mths I fear, very sad for a lot of people. Main thing is keep wife safe from this killer.

I wouldn't read anything into them and would ignore all the positive spin from the media. Not sure what length of time they do relate to, 20 hours perhaps.

Apparently the government is changing the way it is releasing death figures, which “may not actually be the deaths that have taken place over the last 24 hrs” as family consent is now required (Reported on Newsnight last night).

Not really a bid deal, daily updates will still be provided, those that didn't make it one day will be added to another.
As is often the case with data, individual data points are less important than the trend that they reveal.

Actually I think the new cases figure might be 24 hours, but the deaths figure definitely isn't. The figures were tweeted out at 11pm yesterday, which was strange and very late. There is piecemeal reporting of figures in the UK, which doesn't help. Each of the 4 territories compiles their own numbers and I'm not sure if they are all covering the same period.

Ther period is very important, you already have most people thinking that the death rate has dropped by 50%

lurka, each of the NHS boards will be operating a reporting cycle that covers a 24 hour period with their own cut off procedures.
Doesn't really matter if one goes for midnight to midnight whilst another goes for midday to midday.

The spokesman confirmed that the way UK coronavirus deaths are recorded and made public is changing, but he was unable to give details of how.

He said Public Health England is moving to a different reporting time.

Yesterday was “a cross-over day” in the way they were recording the numbers, he said.
But he was unable to explain what would change.

Recording deaths as pneumonia instead of the virus,easily will explain yesterdays figures can only hope families don't just walk away and except especially if refused tests when family were very ill,needs to be investigated..

Interestingly, the John Hopkins University site lists the Worldometers site as one of its sources of data.

Death figures update:  last night only 28 new fatalities recorded.
Alas this is not good news, it is because there are now so many deaths NHS using a 7.30am cut off instead of 1pm.
So govt looking at changing how they are reported.

We may not get any death figures today, as they are looking at moving to publishing first thing in the morning.
Aim is to give more time to collate NHS data and inform families before ages and locations made public.

Some startling figures in bergamo of maybe covering up true extent 143 deaths only 35 counted at cv,that would be 40% if you assume the lot and start explainig out dodgy figures coming in now as well,the extent is huge.
