You have to hold your head in your hands at those saying, I've read this more than once, that "the shortage of coronavirus testing kits is due to years of Tory austerity and underfunding of the NHS". So with more money the NHS would have a (large I presume) stockpile in advance of testing kits created in advance for a virus that didn't actually exist?

Would they have huge stockpiles of such testing kits for EVERY virus that doesn't exist and might randomly mutate at somepoint? Cost a few bob, as would the requisite NHS time machine.

Maybe not as much as the 20/20 hindsight machine that many apparently now have mind you :)

The Daily Mail really annoyed me as it had pictures of people last week at a time when it was bad, queueing outside a supermarket before it opened and labelling them panic buyers and stockpilers. They have no proof of that at all, it could have been people who haven't eaten for a day as had no food left for their family, NHS workers who tried to shop the previous night and got nothing etc. There are many reasons why people might queue for a supermarket to open during a time when things are hard to get, and suggesting they must have bad motivations is pretty damned evil.

Resources are stretched all around the world, also wouldnt it be up to hospital managers to keep the correct amount of stock ?

And I'd argue that media in general has a duty of care during a crisis, not be in attack mode determined to find fault in anything they can. Reporting isolated incidents as if it's the norm.
