LONDONERS packed onto the Tube this morning less than 12 hours after Boris Johnson ordered Brits to stay home to stop coronavirus.

Those pictures look horrific at any 'normal' time, but during this outbreak? Surprised

What's the point, Injera?

That Boris and his experts don’t mention the tube. That Khan has reduced services. That remaining trains are rammed. That London has a problem..
By:

When: 24 Mar 20 10:24
Why does London have a problem?
By:

You've spent weeks trivialising the virus and its consequences, more than basically everyone else on here. Why is it hence a problem if people are crowded on the tube now and infect each other?

There's nothing wrong with having some balance. To counteract hysteria, trivialisation is the cure
By:

Rationality is the cure. Trivialisation costs lives.

e.g in the USA, news organisations like Fox News spent weeks trivialising it all and installing a believe in the viewers that it was all a big hoax created by the Democrats. The country is getting the bill for that now.
By:

When: 24 Mar 20 10:36
Trivialising it? No. Some perspective yes. I would have shut down airports weeks ago. Only returning brits allowed back and quarantined.

Tube for key workers only . Keep all tubes running to thin out passengers. Thin out supermarkets to prevent overcrowding.

The hysteria is out of context with 500k UK annual deaths, many premature and preventable.

Of course it is FACT that Fox News spent weeks trivialising it and installed a believe in viewers that it was all a big hoax created by the Democrats. Of course it is very basic logics that something like that will have led to a bigger spread. A bigger spread means more deaths.

Show some basic logics and rationality, buddy. It's not that hard, is it?

'We are warned of supposedly devastating death rates. But at least one expert, John Ioannidis, is not so sure. He is Professor of Medicine, of epidemiology and population health, of biomedical data science, and of statistics at Stanford University in California. He says the data are utterly unreliable because so many cases are going unrecorded.'

Try listening to fellas like these ^^^ instead of msm who are selling you news and the clipboard carriers on here who are quoting possibly distorted figures that are designed to instill fear and panic.

Are you sure you want to quote the Daily Mail in a post that argues I shouldn't listen to the MSM?

The figures dont tally up to a pandemic do they?
And saying they WILL by internet nobodies is irrelevant

I quoted a professor from Stanford.
Are you saying he didnt say this?

You do understand that the above is a position of a stanford professor and not a journalist from the daily mail?
Do you understand quotes buddy?
By:
edy
When: 24 Mar 20 10:48
No, not at all.

I just found it a bit curious to quote the Daily Mail, the newspaper with the third highest circulation in the UK as far as I know, and then argue we should listen to that instead of the mainstream media.

I sure do. I do also understand that it requires a journalist from the Daily Mail mainstream media for the professor's quote to be included in the article.

Said in another thread just yesterday how utterly weak and disappointing the UK's government is for falling over onto its botty at the first sight of a slight breeze from the front, installing all these measures.

That, however, doesn't mean the their original course wouldn't have cost more lives. Of course it would've. There is no question about it at all.

...but...so be it.
By:
edy
When: 24 Mar 20 11:04
However, I also understand that some people demand their governments to protect them from death.

Ioannidis is in so far correct that we know very little about the real lethality of it all. However, if governments are kind of interested into saving lives from a virus that has some evidence for a higher than average lethality, they can't wait the entire thing out, calculate themselves some fancy statistics and then act when it's all over, can they?

Personally, as I said I think we should just let the virus do its thing. If it ends up killing the drags on society in massive numbers, the old and weak, then all the better.
