You can catch it from your mail if any Post Office staff have the virus.

good job the two million kids still going to school and their parents don't have it

Have you not any gloves, Cooperman? I pick my mail up with thumb and forefinger, use a knife to slit open the envelope and remove the contents with my other thumb and forefinger. The former I treat as contaminated and burn, the latter I treat as safe. It's not difficult. Honestly

The school one's more difficult, Eric. How do you suggest overcoming it? Quarantine the kids at school?
|
|
By:
There isn't a way of overcoming it...thats why it isn't gonna work.....all the panic buying and other stupidity has been because people expected this day to come. The government were spot on on day one when they rattled off expected infection/death rates...a lockdown should never of been on the table...high risk people should be self-isolating and everyone else should be back at work and i guarantee when this lockdown doesn't work (and it won't) that is what is gonna happen next
|
|
By:
everyone else should be back at work
That would inundate and break the NHS within a fortnight and we would be back at square one. It's about flattening and stretching out the peak. You've seen the graph. |
|
By:
the vast majority of those in hospital are elderly/high risk...they make up a huge percentage of the curve....i don't no the exact figures for say under40/no underlying that are in hospital due to the virus but i would expect it is close to zero

Testing on the cruise ship found the virus had lasted for 17 days!!
If that's the case we're all going to get it by hook or by crook |
|
By:
Yes Eric but there seem to be an increasing number of younger people creeping in and some (possibly?) with no pre-existing conditions.
Just use common sense, imo. |
|
By:
Eric,
There's a paper here from Harvard regarding US social distancing and quarantining. Expert analysis I've seen basically cases will drop then rise again, drop, rise, etc as and when lockdowns take place. Kind of backs up your idea this is all a little futile (and will probably just start to grate on people). https://dash.harvard.edu/handle/1/42638988 |

Well, whatever we all do - take care, be sensible and THINK OF OTHERS in your day-to-days. Be safe.

I guess Wuhan is worth watching. Sadly we’re not seeing much coverage from there.
If the lockdown there is easing without problems that will set the precedent. |

Ok, found this:
Wuhan, the centre of the coronavirus outbreak in China, has begun to loosen its two-month lockdown on citizens as more countries issued new restrictions to contain the pandemic. On Monday, small groups of residents in the central Chinese city were leaving their residential compounds, going to grocery stores and walking along the streets for the first time in weeks. At the weekend, the first train arrived in the city ferrying more than 1,000 workers from elsewhere in the province back to the city for work. On Sunday, local authorities said residents could begin returning to work if they did not have a temperature and could provide a green health code, signifying their virus-free status as well as a certificate from their employer. Officials said the city would be “gradually” reopened and public transportation would resume. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/23/wuhan-eases-coronavirus-lockdown-as-restrictions-intensify-outside-china |

i think it said they would have been in lockdown for 70 days and from reading it sounds almost like a total lockdown
