Yeah, mine was a bit of a shock.

I'd have thought that having cancelling all council tax payments forthwith would be a good and fairly equitable method of helping out people.

had thought that jacksaw initially   ,but then people would rightly say it benefits people more who are fortunate enough to own  large properties  .

there is no doubt about it ,there will be some winners and some massive losers out of all this  ...it seems the young renters in certain situations will suffer the most ,and have to pick up the eventual bill in the years ahead

That money does right to the top,thats why you go to jail if you don't pay.

I thought they could move the two months without payments to April and May rather than Feb and March.

I think it would benefit those who own smaller properties more than those who own bigger properties.

What's to worry about, I won't be paying a penny rent or council tax, who's getting evicted?

Nobody will get away with not paying CT.

I'm not saying they will in the long run, but no-one is getting evicted from it whilst this is running, do they want you roaming the streets spreading the virus?

CT is more about prosecution than eviction, I would discourage anyone tempted not to pay it. It should be the priority behind sustenance.

My priority behind sustenance is paying the bill that keeps information coming into my house, the internet, both my partner and I either have no job thanks to the virus or will be on reduced hours so will be crippled financially, the govt have not thought about people asked to work on reduced hours, they are not (currently) making the 80% wages up of those people.

What is going to happen is you'll have a group of workers who get furloughed and get 80% wages for doing nothing, whilst another group of workers get to go to work on probably less than the 80% wages, a total mess.

The system needs to be that the work can be spread evenly amongst the workforce and the difference made up to the 80% so it's fair to everyone.

Having so it only applies to people who do no work makes no sense and will cause unrest among the workers who have to do the donkey work.

In short everyone will want to be the ones sent home on 80% pay.

Utilities will be sympathetic, I'd be shocked if anyone has their broadband disconnected during the self isolation period for non payment. Check your supplier's website, all mainstream businesses have published what they are doing around covid 19.

Why would the local govt not be sympathetic, we all know in the normal world the scary council tax bill was the one that needed paying but this is not the real world anymore and any bill from local govt would be the first one put on the back burner in my house It's probably moot anyhow for me, I'll be on benefits before I'm very much older, that's a point, I might take the opportunity to file for bankruptcy while I'm at it, I should be able to show that with a bit of creative accounting.

Police & Crime Commissioner

People don't realise the damage that creating this new position has done to policing.

Before them we had the Chief Constables running the show, now everything they want to do can be undermined by people with no experience of policing. So they just let the PCCs get on with it.
It's no wonder the police are useless, with nobody who knows what they're doing taking an interest.

no one should be getting 80%   ....50 % is enough ...maybe the rent can be made up with HB for those in hardship or mortgage payments  ...

same applies to  those on reduced hours

and yes 80% will cause resentment  .... it's an insult in fact to hard working care workers and the like

Yes, some bossees won't be bothered ot they'll worry that they may have to fork out the money themselves at first and recoup it off the govt in the fullness of the time, they'll worry that it will take too long.

We all know that the HMRC are going to be totally run over with this and that in 6 months time we will be hearing stories about how lots of people still haven't received any money, the universal credit debacle tells us this, they had forever to roll that out and it was a disaster, they are trying to do this overnight.

All the local government employees will be sitting at home watching the telly on 80% or 100% pay. There will be nobody there to chase you for your council tax payments.

Be a good citizen, pay your bills.
