A seven-year-old girl has died after being stabbed by a stranger in a park.

The girl suffered serious injuries in the attack at Queen's Park in Bolton at about 14:30 GMT, Greater Manchester Police said.

A force spokesman said despite the "best efforts of her family and medical responders, she died a short while later".

A 30-year-old woman, who was not known to the family, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Assistant Chief Constable Russ Jackson said officers were "working to understand the motive for this completely random and brutal attack".

"A woman who was not known to the family was detained by a member of the public and then arrested by the police," he said.

"We understand that the woman has some history of mental illness and we are working to understand if this played any part in her motive."

He said the attack was "a family's worst nightmare".

"The incident is horrendous and I cannot begin to imagine what the family of this little girl are going through," Mr Jackson said.

"We are determined to quickly understand how this came to happen, leaving a young family so distraught and so devastated in an instant."

I wonder what type of Mental Illness this poor Unfortunate woman had ??

That reminds me of a film i watched Saturday night, "A time to Kill", great film about a man who killed 2 men who had raped and hung his 10 yo daughter, who shot them dead as they were going into court. Thats exactly what i'd have done to that woman, she shouldn't have been alive by the time the police came.

It does not seem it to me Ramrumma either????????

We MUST spend more on Mental Health, to ensure potentially dangerous mentally ill patients, are kept away from society.

Is stabbing young girls a sign of sanity in OP's world?

I asked what illness the Lump of shyte was suffering from ,  Perhaps if you were in the park And she stabbed you you might ask the same

Lots of people are stabbed by SANE  people a lot more than by Mentally ill people , Maybe you didn't think of that Before posting

The usual Shyte .....

I also found it strange She stabbed probably the Most Vunerable person in the Park , there is little wrong with

the cooonts reasoning that,s for sure ... MAYBE YOU CAN TELL US WHAT MENTAL ILLNESS MAKES PEOPLE STAB CHILDREN .. WHEN THERE ARE PLENTY

OF ADULT TARGETS ABOUT ???

Perhaps shes related to the Poor Balcony chucker ...

And if she is suffering from some form of Illness that makes her want to Kill kids , she should have been banged up like the Other rsole at  the Tate , But of course there will be our luvvie Friends  on the case making sure about her Rights ... And that she can be intergrated back into the Community ,I bet you are all for that Ram  , I suggest you give a bit of Lodgings to these poor people ,Just to help out ...

I am sure there is a list , Get your name on it ....

Why would Plod suggest a possible mitigating circumstance? Their job is to catch the suspect, interview and charge if necessary. It’s not to give the defence lawyer
a route to leniency.

It has always puzzled me too Case, how the mentally challenged can always reason that they have to attack a child or female, one of the least able to fight back and inflict harm on them ?

Not everybody lives in the same world as you do case..they see the world in a totally different way, which is why they commit acts

which seem appalling to us.

We have accepted insanity as a defence in murder since 1843

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_M%27Naghten#Murder_of_Edward_Drummond

Edward Drummond was the Prime Ministers secretary...M'Naghten murdered because he believed the Tory Government were persecuting him

personally and had spies following him?

This belief was patently not true....so he was found insane and sentenced to life in Bedlam.

I have lived with people in my life who were insane in hostels, at some time in my life. Not dangerous ones though.

It is impossible to change the beliefs of these people

highlight his Problems ...

I have no more to say on the matter tbh  , I see little difference between a Human who would carry out such an Attack and a Mad Dog , We know

What happens to the Dog ...Strangely the Dog who attacks people could possibly be trained , But we cant have it roaming about Biting people can We

?

It doesnt matter if the woman that committed this terrible act is defined as " sane " or " insane" by some psychiatrists handbook. No one who did this can be of any use to society or humanity- death penalty needs to be brought back and stop spending tax payers money on deciding if human trash is "insane" for mitigation.

Going a bit off topic, numerous people submit "mental health issues " as an excuse for crime with it being submitted by stuffed shirts masquerading as lawyers. Im not interested if poor John has depression, anxiety , autism, alcoholism, drug addiction issues ..all crimes should be judged on the circumstances of the crime and not the circumstances of the individual. who hasnt had to deal with personal issues over the years ?

There are a lot of people who are not a lot of use to society....we cannot just eliminate them.

But I take your point wolf3011.

There are people who one can describe as insane in my opinion, some of them have sustained brain damage, but not all.

It is a very difficult area. It can only be judged on a case by case issue.

I understand peoples anger at this, and that little boy who was pushed off a ledge, it is about as bad as it gets when children are

killed or maimed for life.

or severely damaged.

TARGETED to cause the most pain and shock  possible a  headline grabber , of course with CO VID ,that has not worked

I use the Word EVIL ....

A premeditated attack ,most women do not leave the house with knives , The attacker has carefully selected the Victim ,will have seen or passed

many people on route, quite possibly stalked the family waiting for the moment  ...  This the same planning as the Tate  ...

All I can say is thank foook for the Gun Laws in this country Plain

Heartbroken parents pay tribute to 7-year-old Emily Jones who died after being attacked in Queens Park

https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/18333977.light-lives-heartbroken-parents-pay-tribute-7-year-old-emily-jones-died-attacked-queens-park/

THE heartbroken parents of a seven-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed in a popular park described their daughter as the "light of our lives" in an emotional tribute to their only child.

Emily Jones died on Sunday after being attacked by a woman with a knife.

Her family and emergency services, who were called at around 2.30pm, fought hard to save her.

Emily had been in the park with the family on Mother's Day when she was attacked by a stranger.

Her parents said: “Emily was 7-years-old, our only child and the light of our lives.

“She was always full of joy, love and laughter.

“Emily had such a cheeky smile and was beautiful inside and out. She had a heart as big as her smile.

“Emily was never happier than when she was spending time with her family and friends, she was our own little social butterfly.

“Emily had a passion for the outdoors and loved to play any sport, even when she was wearing her pink sparkly dresses!!

“We are beyond devastated that this random act of violence means that we will never get to see our beautiful little girl grow up into the wonderful young lady she was showing such promise of becoming.

“It is truly heart breaking to wake up to a world without Emily in it and we cannot comprehend why this has happened.

“We would like to thank the members of the public that assisted us in the park and express our gratitude to the emergency services for doing their upmost to save Emily’s life. “Thank you to everyone for their kind messages of support and for continuing to respect our privacy at this difficult time.”

The 30-year-old woman arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder was assessed by specialist medical staff and detained under the Mental Health Act. She remains in a highly secure facility.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information. Anyone with any information should contact police on 0161 856 8797 or 101 quoting incident number 1430 of the 22/03/20, or email 69851@gmp.pnn.police.uk. Anyone with any images or footage that could assist enquiries should send them to  scd.cctv@gmp.police.uk.

Appears the woman Attempted to Behead the Child infront of her parents , As Inj suggest was the Rumour ............

I believe a quick look at my 2.11 post will tell us all we needed to know .....

The name being withheld as Inj said was always a Pointer , But TBH , as it was a woman , I gave it a Swerve not believing a female

could carry out such an attack in the Name of the Great Leader ...

Perhaps Ruma and the Rest of the fooking idiots on this Forum will now understand The pure Hatred and evil some of the Mob hold for us ..

Or are they more interested in the return of  the BELLY BEGUM  ...

a truely tragic event , no doubt only the intervention of a passer bye has kept the death toll down ....

I await Doctor Rumas further Analysis of the Lump of shyte involved
