Why are certain countries like Italy, Spain and Iran being hit so hard by the virus, yet others seem to be virtually untouched?

. Interesting comment down the bottom Would it alleviate your perplexity if I told you that Milan in north Lombardy is home to Italy's largest Chinese population? Other large Chinese populations can be found in Korea, Japan, London, California, New York, Australia and yes, Iran. It is Iranian Chinese who are responsible for bringing the disease back to China and creating the second wave. This doesn't make sense. 75% of Singapore's population in Chinese and I've heard nothing about Singapore being a hotspot.

The infection rate of COVID-19 in India is reported to be 1.7, which is remarkable lower than in the worst affected countries.[2] The outbreak has been declared an epidemic in more than a dozen states and union territories, where provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 have been invoked, and educational institutions and many commercial establishments have been shut down. India has also suspended all tourist visas, as a majority of the confirmed cases were linked to other countries.[3] |
