Me - Iv'e been doing the dishes 3/4 times a day since my mrs broke her leg in Oct 19. If I could beam anything in it would be a dishwasher. I used to think people who had one were lazy ba$tards but I've had a selfish rethink. That's been on top of corona washing. I was just noticing how rough my hands were when I saw your postLaughLaugh I'll be using moisturising cream from tomorrow.

crystalhunt - hands that do dishes can be soft as your face, if you use mild green fairy liquid.

More people are upping up their hand washing game now that the CDC and health officials have emphasized that regular hand washing is imperative to helping curb the spread of COVID-19.

But there's one step we all tend to forget after washing our hands or applying hand sanitizer – that critical layer of hand cream. Ironically, by over-washing our skin, we can develop dry cracks in the skin, giving bacteria an entry point into our bodies.

Sara Hogan, MD, a dermatologist at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, shares some best practices on how to treat signs of over-washing like pain, redness, flaking and itching.

This disease is a pandemic it will reach everywhere...the government have had some warning of this

Hourly washing of hands slows the spread of this disease....the Government must do everything to ensure

there is enough soap...not too difficult to work that one out surely?

WTf are you using, 1920s carbolic soap from a convent?

I always wash my hands after the toilet anyway and never even had dry skin, and I get dry skin!

Have you tried using Fairy Liquid? Your hands will feel as soft as your face.

Whilst washing hands is useful and should be done at all times, not just pandemic season, it won't help much if an infected person breathes near you, let alone coughs or sneezes near you.  I wonder if the emphasis on hand-washing is to give the public something positive to do, rather like donating saucepans for spitfires during WW2.

Because the amount of time the virus is is airborne is just for a short time and then settles on surfaces, and can live apparently for days on hard surfaces like metal and plastic, and people with it also touch their noses and face and arse (yes it's in "Arse Stuff") etc and put it on door handles and glasses and shop keypads and touch each other. It's the same with the cold, you touch it, get it on your hands, then touch your face or eat or whatever.

If you use a bank machine or keypad in a shop or open a door to a shop or other communal door, how many 100s of people have done that today?

That's exactly why I wear gloves whenever I'm out in public and am very careful removing them without touching anything when I get home.
