Working on the checkout dealing with hundreds of customers face to face, handling cash is a death sentence imo.
It doesn't seem to be. The same people are working on the checkouts. Most people who get the virus soon get over it. Of course if anyone coughs or sneezes, they have to isolate themselves for seven days which is quite ridiculous. |

Shops/stores all over the UK are closing to protect staff and customers. I cannot see how the supermarkets can continue to trade as they are. Self-service tills only with limited numbers of customers maybe a possibility but not sure how or if possible.

I think some must already be restricting entrance....
Witness this Tesco store, with people queuing all around the car park! What is hard to comprehend though, is why the car park is, itself, not full!!! ![]() |

I know it's a different situation but at my local Chemist, only three people allowed in at a time and customers wait outside the shop for prescriptions. Makes sense imo.

That sounds a good idea ericstar..I think all shops should do that
If people cannot go to the shops to buy what they need, how else are they to get them? If people book for delivery at home, have you seen the lead times, weeks, people cannot wait that long |

But surely your personal encounter with COVID-19 has convinced you of the importance of self isolation and social distancing.
Absolutely for those at high risk. |

Yes it is very important Dr Crippen
But people still need to eat, they need other things? If they have no one else to get these things for them, they have to do it themselves, or stay at home and starve? |

if there is any risk associated with this radioactive type virus , then standing next to people in queues with that kind of risk in itself isn't worth it ...
and why aren't people telling the queues to go home ...if it's not safe to walk up and down Bournemouth seafront or in the park then that static queue is certainly not safe ![]() |
