pavlov strikes again
![]() we already have the civil contingencies act but bozo and co are giving themselves extra powers for a couple of years and parliament doesnt care. you really need to get over your corbyn fixation and deal with the here and now. there is a power grab going on. |

Someone in the right-wing propoganda unit can see what's coming. If it's not blame it on China then it's whataboutery for opponent political parties both here and in the US. Both Johnson and Trump were woefully slow to react and we're about 10-14 days from an absolute sh!tstorm here so they're pumping out opinions to their disciples to regurgitate of how - no matter how bad it eventually gets - it maybe, perhaps, couldabeen worse.

It's actually genuinely pondering out loud. I can't think of any government in the world that I know anything about that I would fear using this in such a way, it's ridiculous to think Boris would. But Corbyn etc are genuine fanatics, true believers in the cause. Extremists so bad many in their own party won't even work with them and openly declare him to be a dangerous man unfit to be PM, a man whose inner cult of similar true believers continually try and purge the party of anyone who isn't also a true believer.
You are trying to tell me that they wouldn't seriously consider this as the "event" that could be used to bring the Socialism they crave with every fibre of their body to in their words "save" us? Bollox. Think about it. |

I should have added, please may adults who can make coherent arguments only reply to the question as it stands, not tedious left wing trolls who are incapable of an adult argument. Thanks for your "contribution" porcupine, not changed have you. Bless.

but bozo and co are giving themselves extra powers for two years despite already having the civil contingencies act and telling us 12 weeks would do it for covid 19
. i feel like we have been here before.bozo actually did purge his party of people who wouldnt go along with him completely. both gauke and hammond have voted to leave the eu every time there was a withdrawal bill before parliament (unlike bozo). despite this because they wouldnt go along with voting for the bozo bill without there being appropriate parliamentary scrutiny they were expelled. they wanted parliament to take back control whereas bozo wanted the executive to be able to do as it pleased. at the last election conservative candidates had to sign up to bozo 100% or werent allowed in. corbyn has not actually purged the labour party, there are still plenty of his own MPs who dont like him. what you accuse corbyn of is what bozo has actually done, maybe you are trolling the forum? |
|
By:
The LaBOUR party and leadership - you have to understand these people regard this as a playground
their very existence does not depend on them continuing if anything goes wrong they are all married to wealthy people or have other incomes etc outside of fighting for the poor and the immigrant refugees etc |
|
By:
"what you accuse corbyn of is what bozo has actually done, maybe you are trolling the forum? "
This is just beyond .. I'll watch my words. No point arguing with anyone who could say that or believe it remotely true. I take back what took back earlier.. |
|
By:
and please dont fall back on your usual tricks, i am no fan of labour or corbyn.
the cult of bozo won the cult of corbyn lost. |
|
By:
but bozo removed the whip from MPs who wouldnt go along with him, that is a fact. no surprise if you run away, you often say someone who has a different view from you is either a troll or a leftie or mental.

Inclined to agree moisok but it's not quite my point. Which is basically:
1. Corbyn and crew want a fairly hard left socialist state. McDonnell openly boasts he wants the downfall of capitalism. His supporters are e.g. Novara media who proudly say they are "communist". Facts. 2. This is an "emergency" that comes along once in .. well people say biggest emergency since ww2. Fact. 3. What better than using it as a pretext, a cover, to make substantial and permanent changes to the state they believe in to move it towards what they want, as they know they may never get another chance again for 100 years. Be pretty hard to imagine they wouldn't start pushing. Nothing to do with some temporary emergency powers. FFS people on here are screaming Boris isn't bringing in and using ENOUGH emergency powers and being too light handed and not doing enough. It's ridiculous to compare what I'm on about, with Boris. i.e. The possibilty of using a once in multiple generation situation causing mass fear hysteria and panic for a permanent shift in the state to the Left vs some temporary powers that Boris hopes to stop using as soon as possible and get back to normal. Ludicrous. I'm not saying they would go the whole way but using it to jump us all quite a few notches, more I think about, yes I think they would. |
|
By:
I think any government in Britain is liable to introduce 'emergency' laws that are never repealed.
Happened in WWI. People think pubs closing at 11 was some quaint English tradition from centuries ago, but actually pubs opened and closed whenever they felt like pretty much. During WWI opening times were regulated as an emergency measure, to stop people staggering into munitions factories while pissed, and the legislation remained for 100 years. |

Still, on the plus side, now people have experienced queueing for a limited range of basic essentials and then not getting any anyway, we now KNOW what it's like to live in a communist state
![]() |
|
By:
no answer to the basic point that bozo purged his party of those who werent 100% behind him unlike corbyn, no surprise.
they likely already have enough powers and if they want more it should be properly debated before being voted on in parliament. jrm has already blatantly lied about why they need more powers. |
|
By:
after today's announcements we are all socialists now (although as a self employed person i am a lot less socialist)
|
|
By:
You're right tobermory, I think we should repeal all such war laws.
AFAIK income tax was introduced to fund a war and never repealed. I'm sure we all agree we should get rid of that as well ![]() But anyway thread diverges from the point like the fractal tree, as always :) |
|
By:
checking - I am not disagreeing with plenty of what you are saying
I am still a member but as many say - WHY?? BUT even people on here are using the situation politically now look at the git on sky 2215 getting all excited over the rising bill pathetic me too journo using this shouty shouty new journo type voice and sound he is litrally dancing from point to point |

"Still, on the plus side, now people have experienced queueing for a limited range of basic essentials and then not getting any anyway, we now KNOW what it's like to live in a communist state"
Polish people over here who are above 40 will be "arrgh, it's like the old times"! |
|
By:
and yet we dont have a thread started about the powers bozo and co have grabbed for themselves we have thread about what corbyn would do, more comedy gold.

moisok I'm sure people ARE using it politically.
I voted Tory and I'm quite happy for us to be throwing bucketloads money at this as these are incredible times. For a start never mind if we just let it run it would be a disaster for people (very bad anyway), once the government starts making demands of people (self isolate, close bars etc) then I believe it has a clear moral duty to cover the repercussions of their demands. Also I don't generally like too much state interference in business but if valid businesses are going to go bust due to a temporary blip and they can be supported for a while then recover, again I'm totally ok with that. And that's the case so we support them as much as they need. If anything this has caused a temporary shift from everyone to the LEFT not the right. Tory MPs were demanding all the above as well. These are .. "interesting" times.. But thankfully not communist ![]() |
|
By:
jolly there is clearly no point in me repeating myself as you take nothing in anyway. Bye.
|
|
By:
you dont seem to be able to respond to any point i make, you project, you are the one who can take nothing in.
no doubt that is because i am a troll/leftie/mental. you didnt take kindly to me using one of your own tricks on you did you? to repeat, bozo expelled MPs from his party if they didnt go along with him 100%. personally i cant help but think that at these trying times the likes of gauke and hammond wouldnt inspire a bit more confidence than raab, truss, patel, hancock or virtually any of the the current cabinet. good night. |

It is good to know that Captains of Industry and heroes of the free market will not be asking the Nanny State for tax payer hand outs!

i am self employed wd, i may get about £100 a week, nice to know those on PAYE will get 80% off the government up to two and a half bags a month
![]() |
|
By:
Well if you had your own private Island in the Caribbean maybe you would be eligible
|
|
By:
Hello.
The Tories seem to hate the self employed / freelance. IR35 is so ill thought out as well. "Hey you can have none of the benefits of being PAYE and yet all of the risks and costs of Freelance plus not be paid in between contracts". Seems a bit unfair. Bye :P |
|
By:
we will hopefully get the next budget next week so the self employed will be helped (i hope so at least)
i just wonder how we will pay for it all, i am not a very god socialist, i must admit. |
|
By:
you are joking 100 a week!!!
i give up I must stop watching the panicking whipping up of our population by this ridiculous stuff PANDEMIC is actually a series I am sick of the lot have you seen what is being trolled out it is sickening and a measure of where our society is and they are continually broadcasting it on sky I am glad I kept it on instead of simply switching off |
|
By:
it is 317 a month and rishi has promised a bag a year extra so roughly, being generous, its 100 a week.
no doubt it wont be easy to claim. |
|
By:
.. Corbyn in the papers today saying the coronavirus episode has now "proved" his politics was "absolutely right", and that it's moving the country to the left and his thinking and "our society and our politics will never be the same again". Just saying...
