Nonsense has been spouted on here saying 20,000 deaths would be acceptable. Well tell that to the people who have had (and will have) family die from this Pandemic.

Self Isolation is the only way to keep safe and reduce the spreading. Anybody with common sense would realise this.

So to all forumites (especially the older ones) social distance yourself and be careful before it`s too late.

20,000..stick another 0 on the end and you will still be short...just because you dont like the maths fella, it doesnt mean you can do fack all about it. Theres no hiding from this....people need to grow a pair and start facing the stark facts...chances are your gonna get it...some will die but most will come through the other side.

mightymac ,the  overwhelming danger is in   families  getting to close to their grandparents  ...kids maybe sneezing , holding hands not washing hands ...basic hygiene  ....

all measures are good measures  but chances of getting the virus outside on a bench in a pub garden  must be a 1000/1

this must be running rife within families  and isolated pockets  ...probably why it hasn't affected the poorer areas much (yet)

i reckon around 60,000 infections (Not cases)    ,next week would maybe hit around  140,000   ...then if nothing was done  310,000 etc the next week   on that sort of scale ...

then it would passed around in those smaller social groups and then fan out of the area in small numbers to in turn to  start again within those social groups .

When the tube was being allowed to operate to full capacity last week, but there were no cases on London you knew it was all b ullshit.

We can self isolate as long as we choose, but one visit to the supermarket and we might not have bothered.

What's worse is we're going to the supermarkets far more often, in order to try and catch them with the stuff we want on the shelves.

It's not going to be anywhere near 200,000.

I doubt the first wave will reach 20k myself.

My local supermarket was so packed yesterday, I turned round and went home.

I'll shop at the local Spar.

JJmbe  ...  i honestly don't think this virus spreads much through crowds / gatherings much at all unless someone was sneezing or coughing  all over the shop   ...i think it's intimate contact  ....kissing / sexual  or  handshaking  / sneezing by kids in shared rooms where kids have the virus

if it was easy to pass on we'd easily all have it by now

Guy in his 20s from London on the news last night. When asked why he wasn`t taking government advice to change social habits, he said he didn`t care if he caught it. When told by reporter that if he caught it he could pass it on to others including vulnerable people, he replied with a laugh, "Well they should stay indoors".

We will never know the full numbers, not enough testing kits available, people self isolating and recovering, also had people tell me the same hear it everyday in the cab, loads of old people down here on south coast.

Couldn’t believe both Sky and the BBC were allowed access into hospital wards. AND that they filmed patients struggling to breathe. Horrific.

Sadly, people are not taking this Pandemic seriously. Just stats and news on the telly.

When you hear someone in the family has tested positive for covid-19, I can assure you all that it really strikes home then.

2 of the family have been diagnosed with it so please don`t be too complacent about it. It`s real and is out there.

Stay safe all.

Thanks guys, appreciate that.

One is in South of England and other North of England. 15 (School) and 40 (Health worker) so age is on their side and hopefully both will recover. Everybody in direct contact with them are now in isolation.

It was a big shock tbh. Never expected that.

Stay vigilant guys and look after yourselves.
