If we bear in mind that health is big business in America, and hospitals get paid for the numbers of patients they treat, we should expect any beds that are available will be filled with paying customers. They'll drag them in off the streets if they have the means to pay.
I'm afraid that's how business works, and the health business is no different.
I might be wrong of course, but doctors are no different to other people in that they're there to make money.
