I,m not thick but don't get it
you go in today you test, you get a result in 36/48 hrs which at best tells you were negative 36,48 hrs ago ,but what about the 36/48 hrs in between where you've been working with the most infected patients
I must be missing something some of the cleverest people in the vcountry must see what I see
to put it simply
if the police breathalysed everyone on the way to the pub no one would ever fail
they keep saying that if nhs workers are at home self isolating for whatever reason a positive test helps them return to work on the flip side if they test everyone there might be nhs workers currently working with no or few symptons who test positive and have to self isolate

if you test positive for antibodies it would mean you have had it
so can crack on at work safe , for a while, from getting it again. (hopefully)
testing for having it, means go home if you have it, and if you
dont have it, but are also negative for antibodies then take care as you are at risk.

I can see the sense of if tested and negsative you then go home ,take care ,practice social distancing etc
but nhe workers arnt , after testing their going straight in dealing,migling with the most infected people,then returning home to families,using public trandsport etc, you,d have to have each nhs worker on a 24/7 rolling testing regime

You appear to be getting your positives and negatives mixed up - the wrong way around, actually

I think the NHS workers eg doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance drivers, etc, and even hospital cleaners and porters are on the front line ie they are at the receiving end of any unwell person, and as such must be healthy at all times to carry out their roles. They must not be Covid-19 infected or carriers otherwise the spread will be monumental.
No matter what you do, do not, under any circumstances, ask1st time poster to change your car battery 
agreed but how does one test result on a Monday morning count for anything after 12,15 hr shifts with the most infected patients
a cynic might say they don't want to do intensive testing inside hospitals because they no it will end with 1000,s of positive tests and have the opposite effect in regards of nhs people been stood down

onlooker you should write to your coroner to make sure he nows how to spell corona virus correctly,wouldnt want any mistakes on the paperwork,you,d never settle in the after life
You’ve highlighted an issue with all such tests, they only provide a snapshot at a moment in time, immediately becoming out of date.
However, when combined with the use of PPE and the adoption of safe behaviours, they do provide a certain level of assurance.
How much that is better than nothing is open to debate.
For front line staff and their family members, I’d imagine that it would provide a high level of assurance.

And don’t forget, you can always retest following a suitable period or after suspected exposure.
Think of it like a weld test certificate, tells you that the weld was good once, can’t guarantee it is still good once the item has been placed in to service.

at its height they predict I in 5 of us will have it ,the % must rise massively for those treating infected people, not in nhs interest to encourage mass testing

My missus works in the local hospital; not a doctor or nurse, but frontline on the wards in a specialty area.
She says the level of skiving is unbelievable. Staff just using it as an excuse to go off on paid holiday. Eg, a senior critical care consultant emailed in yesterday to say she was pregnant and didn't want to take any risks. So she's self isolating until June. All paid for by you.

Lol, I predicted that last week.
It's the same right across the public sector with people with underlying conditions self-isolating before they catch it.
And when others who phone in sick come back after their ''illness'' and then genuinely catch a dose, they'll still be allowed time off on full pay.

John Hopkins yesterday stated 20% of infects in China showed no symptoms. You simply cannot stop this type of virus.
the testing is for control and prediction purposes, other than that we all get it or it continues unabated until a vacine arrives that will give us 3 legs and a hairy fanny..
Does one actually believe any figure coming out of China? I certainly do not given the regime and lack of democracy there.

deaths to cases irrelevant regards testing we,re basically only testing those when their lifes are on the line in hospital,if we went and did blanket testing in northern Scottish isles numbers would look different
Italy got hit during school holidays,half term, sking holidays ,massive public gatherings ,football matches.
if there were full houses at arsenal,spuds,chelski etc this weekend or easter weekend and life went on unabated there,d be a massive spike, add in Italian way og life generations of family living together or close together, big older generation,the numbers arnt outliners

over 2.600 nurses in Italy tested positive,clue as to why nhe would be reluctant to test every nhs wotrker
