Eight people are dead following two shootings at shisha bars in the western German city of Hanau.
At least five people were injured after gunmen opened fire at about 22:00 local time (21:00 GMT), police told the BBC.
Police added that they are searching for the suspects, who fled the scene and are currently at large.
The first shooting was at a bar in the city centre, while the second was in Hanau's Kesselstadt neighbourhood, according to local reports.
Police officers and helicopters are patrolling both areas.
Three people were killed in the first shooting, and five in the second, regional broadcaster Hessenschau reports. The motive for the attack is unclear.

There appeared to be no other perpetrators, they added, and said the investigation was ongoing. Bild newspaper reported that the suspect was a German citizen with a firearms licence, and that ammunition and gun magazines had been found in his car. |

Totally disagree we are more violent now.
Since WW2 there has barely been a conflict that has killed more than 1 million people and those were in Africa in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Going back in time there have been many 50 million+ conflicts in and around China and the Middle East. Western European has never been violent by comparison. |

What's the difference between Neo Nazis and real Nazis? We've had New Labour, and according to many Labour supporters they were more like Tories. So could Neo Nazis be more like Labour? I mean the society that I live in ..... Any war, anywhere, anytime has nothing to do with THE PEOPLE. it's the politicians, big business, idealists and power crazy manic psychopaths that cause wars.
