Mary Kathryn Wright has died aged 85. She was the greatest woman golfer of the 20th Century, perhaps of all time. Because of her early retirement in 1969, and withdrawal from public life, she has been an almost mystical figure ever since. A little like Bobby Jones.

Ben Hogan was quoted as saying that Wright “had the finest golf swing I ever saw.”

One of the game's true legends.
