Poor poor polar bears, I can't see them being able to survive for much longer living in the Highlands. Damn you Global Warming! Angry

That's 'weather' not 'climate'

Do we know what the weather was like on 10th October 1066 in Hastings? No we do not and that, in epochal terms, is an infinitely small measure of time ago and yet we're drawning life-changing conclusions (vis-a-vis the socio-economic and political actions that are informed by these conclusions) from completely untrustworthy data - and to compound matters, attributing unmeasurable effects to 'man' rather than wholly natural, reoccuring phenomena (milankovitch cycles, albedo effect etc).

The above merely makes me open-minded NOT a climate-change denier for the hard-of-thinking
Report sixtwosix • January 30, 2020 12:27 PM GMT
Lack of snow ...climate change , lots of snow ….climate change ……

It is weather , and a growth industry.
Report Injera • January 30, 2020 6:05 PM GMT
All bases covered. It’s almost like a set up....

I am agnostic about the whole thing I DO NOT KNOW!

No armchair analyst on here will convert me one way or the other.
Report Coachbuster • January 30, 2020 6:15 PM GMT
you couldn't have grown them north of Nice until a few years ago ,and they were by far the most northerly apart from a solitary windswept one in the Isles of Scilly which sometimes looks a bit worse for wear

Plants and animals will tell you the climate

Humans can tell you the weather
Report moisok • January 30, 2020 6:17 PM GMT
There are many climates that vary quite a lot - I have been to most of them.  You often have to change your clothing and lifestyle to acclimatise.
The latest climate change forecast is for east anglia to be underwater by 2050 CAUSED BY CLIMATE CHANGE etc etc.
Sorry climateers, the weather beat you to it in 1953 when the place was devastated by an ingress of water and lots of people killed.

Why has ever prediction been wrong/not happened etc and how do the dutch get with lots of their country being near or under sea level.
Report moisok • January 30, 2020 6:18 PM GMT
Palms in Torquay.  Already there.
Report moisok • January 30, 2020 6:18 PM GMT
been there for decades as far as I know
Report Coachbuster • January 30, 2020 6:19 PM GMT
parts of east anglia surely ?

i'm 177 ft above sea level lol
Report moisok • January 30, 2020 6:26 PM GMT
that is the prediction  but it already happened in 1953  it is all on record with newsreel pictures and everything.  All forgotten and not mentioned much these days and it wouldn't fit the Greta trademark and gore lying propaganda.  Anyway we should be near siberian weather by now according to the hidden report that went to Bush in 2004
Report Injera • January 30, 2020 6:28 PM GMT
Bitter yesterday in Sussex. Zero in the wind chill. Global heating long overdue. Will slash our gas bill.
Report moisok • January 30, 2020 6:29 PM GMT
SIBERIA
Report Injera • January 30, 2020 6:30 PM GMT
Took down the Wellingtonia yesterday. Gotta keep the kids warm (please don’t tell the council...)

11c again here today ...fuschias and lavender flourishing ,Rhodedendrons all flourishing ,pasion fruit still hanging from trees ... flowers in every garden on my walk to the shops earlier

in the 1950s/60s  it would be 7.5c about now  for days on end
Report Coachbuster • January 30, 2020 6:37 PM GMT
9c in Germany right now

these are countries that used to be buried under snow in January
Report Coachbuster • January 30, 2020 6:38 PM GMT
2c in Stockholm right now

that would have broken records years ago
Report Coachbuster • January 30, 2020 6:38 PM GMT

Report Injera • January 30, 2020 6:51 PM GMT
So less gas/oil/wood burnt for heat?

Job done.
Report Dr Crippen • January 30, 2020 6:53 PM GMT
They make much of the downside but little of the upside.

You won't hear me complaining about warm weather.
Report Injera • January 30, 2020 6:59 PM GMT
Indeed. Warmer drier weather = people walking not driving, strolling not bussing it.

True scientists would acknowledge the upside of a warmer country.
Report hello :-) • January 30, 2020 7:05 PM GMT
trouble is a warmer climate will see changes you do not want

invasive species able to breed in our climate for one , drying of rivers lochs etc causing toxic algae blooms , crop farming I imagine will struggle also as weather becomes more intense as we seen last year as weather becomes more violent either droughts or flooding etc

obviously barbie sales will go up tho , always a winner somewhere
Report Injera • January 30, 2020 7:09 PM GMT
More skilled irrigation will deal with any drought.

Flooding needs to wonderful supply of water.

Next!
Report Coachbuster • January 30, 2020 7:17 PM GMT
last thing you want on these damp islands is any more warmth  ... you will start getting all sorts of nasties .

a cool climate is a wonderful thing  imo
Report Dr Crippen • January 30, 2020 7:23 PM GMT
We'll all have to move to Iceland.
Report moisok • January 30, 2020 7:32 PM GMT
have you any idea the damage fish farming is doing oop north
Report Injera • January 30, 2020 7:35 PM GMT
Nasties Coach? Like oranges and grapes?!
Report hello :-) • January 30, 2020 7:57 PM GMT
fish farming is a nightmare

sea beds under cages dead , salmon practically dissolving alive , covered in 100s of lice many of them , effecting wild stocks , chemicals a plenty for many uses , one of the unregulated chems they used can impair brains ability to protect it from toxins , that was Norway tho

add that to fact the high fat content makes them susceptible to toxins , ive also seen the pellets they are fed with are made from pulped waste salmon so even more toxins

could be one of most toxic foods in world
Report Coachbuster • January 30, 2020 8:18 PM GMT
injera  ... we already have climates to grow  oranges  ...we don't need new ones .

i was talking disease carrying insects  ,bitey things
Report Injera • January 30, 2020 8:19 PM GMT
