Bank of England will give a few months warning before you can't spend the old ones.

Simple remedy.  Providing you’ve got a decent cash balance already in bank. Go to bank withdraw 20k cash. They’ll make you jump through hoops but tell them you are buying a car and you need the cash. Eventually they’ll give it to you. Ask for it in 50s. A few days later go into a different branch and deposit the same amount in the 20s. They will ask where money from. Easy I withdrew it to buy car but deal fell through.
