So you've robbed yourself of tomorrow's treat through sheer greed and gluttony?
|
|
By:
Forbidden pork pie is the sweetest fruit.
|
|
By:
Yep. 500 calories and 140 grams of pure greed and gluttony.
https://www.coop.co.uk/products/co-op-melton-mowbray-pork-pie-140g That is the darling. I recommend the product. Just imagine how nice it would have been if it were fresh! ![]() |

Once you get to a certain age this is the most fun you can have in a car with pork and jelly

I wouldn't downgrade the experience, Jack seems to have got quite a bit out of it.
Now he didn't mention in his first post that his stale red-hot bargain was a Melton Mowbray PP. So I hope he's not too disappointed if he's unable to pick up a second PP at a preferential rate of exchange, the next time he nips into a Co-op. |

I thought this was a thread about "Desmond's" the barber's shop in Peckham.

I like to live life on the edge, Doc.
If there is another occasion when I feel a bit peckish, I may choose another product or indeed another supermarket. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I purchased a cone of chips from a well respected local fish and chips shop. That's how I roll. |
|
By:
To live right on the edge you should have after eight mints at 19.59!!!
|
|
By:
You really need a warm one with the jelly spurting all over as you bite into it.

I'll see your pork pie and raise you a gala pie - the King of all pork-based snacks.
|
|
By:
Well, I have a sincere apology to make. A grave mistake on my part.
The pie purported to be 140g was in fact 290g, so double the weight, double the calories and double the sheer greed and gluttony. I am unable to accept that a 'gala' pie is even a match for a traditional pork pie. Those I have eaten have been too fatty by half. Asda is too far for me to travel, but would be interested to hear others' tasting notes. |

egg and ham pie the best

none of you realise the impact this will have on the enviroment - consider yourselves to have been GRETAD
|
|
By:
Greta looks like she could do with getting a pie or two down her. No wonder she's always crying.
Do they still sell pork pies in Sweden? |

As main adjudicator on moral issues on here I will have to point out you may have upset some people with your wild assumptions Dr!!!

Very interesting Jack....
Questions.... How much "divy" did you get? "Chobbling"....I thought that was a made up word, but now see that it is a Midlands/Black Country (can we still say that?) word! If you had taken it to golf, would you have similarly "chobbled" it, or would that be considered to beneath club etiquette? |
|
By:
Alas, my origins are revealed.
I would have had a surreptitious chobble while surreptitiously changing my shoes in the car park (not etiquette) - although, it might not have been that surreptitious because we were in the only van in the car park. I calculate how posh the golf club is by the ratio of vans to cars in the car park. |

you meat eaters all damaging the planet - use should be ashamed

it is a Midlands/Black Country (can we still say that?) word!
It's taken on a different meaning for some people. They've got their own Black Country Flag. ''In July 2017, West Midlands newspaper the Express & Star reported that then recently-elected local MP Eleanor Smith had described the flag as "racist" and "offensive" and wanted it to be scrapped, citing possible slavery connotations of the chain imagery and colours.[3] Responding to criticism, Smith said the flag made her feel "uneasy", and that she had been expressing the concerns of some constituents, but denied describing it as racist.[4] She was not re-elected in the 2019 General election.'' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Black_Country Gertcha silly woman, Labour of course. She occupied Enoch Powell's old seat Wolverhampton South West. God rest his soul. |

mo, I was forced to use Greggs every lunch time last week. Only ever one or two steak or chicken bakes in view, sometimes none. But always a full tray and more of the meat free ones sat there. Not sure they've got their numbers right.

By:
as a frequent visitor I would say their mild is something to be honoured
and as for the offence they would take it and the whole gate against someone like that so called politico |
|
By:
Chobbling his fittle on the car park eh?
|
|
By:
our world is being changed by a few noisy ones and the politicos will freeze afraid of being critical in any way - same with the book - 3 or 4 million votes plus endless supporters -
cling on to the fact we can get away with our views for a few years until we are gone we won't be around to having to pause friday bbc news to bow to the east |

PIE!!!
|
|
By:
Jack would be judged effeminate round there eating pork pies that have been wrapped.
The local fare is cow pie like Desperate Dan in the Dandy eats. I heard a local ordering a steak, they said how would you like it? He said I like it rare, so just cut off it's horns and wipe it's arse and that'll do for me. |
|
By:
PIE is another interesting subject relating to my party!!!!!!!!!!

By:
thank you jack hacksaw , feckin brilliant mate keep em coming man
![]() ![]() gala or pork pie , tough one i guess its down to ingredients , free range meat and pastry made by a baking wizard is the important thing tho tho eating meat is frowned upon these days , if your having one best do it in secret or risk being set about by vegans , they dont feck around these lads as anyone who has been whacked on the head with a lump of tofu will testify |

Best pork pie I have bought was from the posh butchers in Ulverston, highly recommended.!

Pork pie segments (8) mustard jubiley and that’s no pork pie.
|
|
By:
Jubley why does it change to jubilee?
|
|
By:
Sod it
|
|
By:
Doc, I am familiar with Mad O'Rourke's Little Pub chain and his culinary work and have had a couple of Desperate Dan pies.
|
|
By:
Some will think I am depraved, but the best way to have a pork pie, is in a bowl with "Mushy Peas"....
That, unless the said pie is known to be at the pinnacle of quality! I'm certainly not a lover of the jelly, in some pies, but heated it isn't a problem, and does contribute to the flavour! |
|
By:
the jelly is mainly stock thus flavour , if said pie is made with quality ingredients
a lot is down to the pastry whch can be tasteless and dry , a good pie is only as good as the pastry thar surrounds it always give your pie a shake , if you hear the meat inside rattle i would avoid |
