I usually go along with the pronunciations used by whoever I'm conversing with, but I'm still no pushover in this respect.
Someone pronounced ''Linux'' as ''Line ux'' the other day, and I wasn't having that. No way! I quickly smacked them down. There is a limit, they can only go so far before the hackles start to rise. |

Of course, the correct pronunciation is 'Shrowsbury'.
If the correct pronunciation were 'Shrewsbury', no-one would ever dream of saying Shrowsbury. So the fact that some say one and some the other proves my point. ![]() |
