Hamburg?

If you're going to the Hamburg match don't mention the VAR.

The area around the Reeperbahn is was particularly shabby and unpleasant when I was there. I would be tempted to find a different area to do most of your drinking. There is a large Hofbrau house in town that would be good for a large group.

They're a rough lot over there.
In the film Cabaret, one bloke wouldn't buy a ticket so they waited for him outside and beat him up. 

I wouldn't fancy that.

When you reach the main train station, please take the west exit instead of the east, if possible. You don't want to ruin your first impression of the city. The east exit literally takes you to the middle east.

If you visit a cafe they used to only have high tables to stand at, no chairs. Apparently to keep the traffic flowing.

Seems a bit dangerous putting cafes in the roads.

Lot of Marauders in the Area , any holes a goer by all accounts .

Reeperbahn still terrific for a lads all night on the booze. Fridays and Saturdays in March are lively enough, Sunday is dead all year around though during summer all weekdays are OK. Convenient AEO hostel on the Grosse Freiheit side, though I prefer the pubs on and off the opposite side of the Reeperbahn. Politely decline the scam street brasses, don't upset the Hell's Angels, and you'll have a good night out.

Even our own little edy packed up and came to live in the UK to get away from the place.
