In his younger days he was on the right of the party with an anti-immigration and, wait for it, Eurosceptic stance.  The narrator said his views changed when he met his wife, who was a Labour activist.  The rest is history.

Just saw it myself. He is a little bit marmite. I don’t seek to defend him as could come across as an obnoxious....... but it would appear the ones who disliked him the most were the ones who wanted Parliamentary Sovereignty. I find that most ironic as he will be remembered as a Champion of Parliament.
