Depends what you want? Going on Safari, or climbing the pyramids , sightseeing etcis my idea of hell. If I want any of that nonsense I'll watch the National Geographic Channel. Cruising sounds ok - until you have to get off the boat and the sharks are waiting for you - plus I'm too young for thta. All the time me and my wife are happy doing nothing, we're happy doing nothing, so nearest place in the sun with a decent hotel, which to me in the winter means Lanzarote. Just came back and the weather was great, but our previous three vists not so good. Love Egypt, but again, hardly left the hotel. Not sos sure I'd go back now. Cuba was good too, but too long on a plane.

Been to Lanzarote McCoy Carp and did enjoy it there. Fascinated with Cuba. Would never have considered that.

It's more who you go with than where you go.

It was 17 years ago in February I went bigmo. Lost my Mum just before Christmas and my Dad struggled, didn't want to leave the house through fear of breaking down. I said, come on, let's have a holiday, where you can meet people and they won't your circumstances. It made him want to live life again. A magical holiday.

Cuba was a special place when I went there but that was over 25 years ago - so may have changed

Went backpacking nearly 30 years ago and my favourite places were the backwaters of Indonesia.  Ubud in Bali in particular.  Also rural Thailand.

Also New Zealand, but you'd want at least a month.

Aruba 28-30 degs all year round with very little rain. Crime is very low and they have 13 casinos.

I have been to Ubud (about 30 years ago, backpacking) Lots of monkeys Jack! Bali is beautiful if you move away from the tourist bits which is possibly quite tricky now?

in ubud went to a show with gamelan music and women dancing....absolutely magical....
