Firstly, the note was written in clear, perfect English.

Secondly, if it's true, so what?  Packing Christmas cards in a box is hardly breaking rocks, is it?  Prisoners should work towards their keep, not lounge around all day watching television, playing video games or using mobile phones.  The sort of people upset by this are the ones who are disappointed that Jo Swinson isn't PM.

How sad. I'm glad they have stopped the manufacturing. It is a human rights issue after all. They have disrupted their own supply of Christmas cards for the first two quarters of 2020. That will be a big blow to them but again, human rights come first. On the bright side the local british christmas cards manufacturers should ace the market for the first two quarters.

This is a non-story on several levels.

This happened in 2018 and 2017 as well. A great PR stunt for these companies to take the moral high ground when they basically profit off of China's cheap labor.

Is Tesco going to close its stores in China too? Or just stop manufacturing something they won't need anyways for the next 9 months at least?

This explains the fortune cookie I read telling me how to put a mobile phone up my ass.

entirely wrong. 90% of prisoners in china should not be there as they are political. china executes more people than any country in the world. it is the most polluted in the world. it is a brutal dictatorship that kidnaps oversea critics, and they are forced to confess or die. hong kong in mortal peril now. slave labour has been used by the party for 70 years. tens of millions have perished as a result. aside from politics, the extinction of precious animals like rhino and elephant could easily occur if the chinese carry on with their much under-reported rape of africa, via debt-diplomacy. they also have tiger and bear farms where these noble animals are kept in tiny cages prior to slaughter for their body parts. it is an appalling country, ruled by president for life xi, a tyrant of hitlerian proportions.

if any of you can read, i suggest frank dikotter or jung chang.

china should be ostracised as south africa was, and no trade should be permitted with it. it should be a pariah state. i have never knowingly bought anything made there.

i have never knowingly bought anything made there.

I don't believe this. Unless you never look at the label, this is just not possible.

Using money/debt/trade to gain political influence is nothing new. Doesn't the EU do the same?
Report Coachbuster December 23, 2019 6:48 PM GMT
scrutinise labels .... some will even have 'made in PRC'   to disguise it's origin

if it falls apart within weeks  that's also a  sign
Report grappler December 23, 2019 6:50 PM GMT
clue is 'knowingly'. you unknowing fool.  no it does not and to equate the eu with this vicious dictatorship is grotesque. off out now, so all yours, you berk

I am sorry but I don't understand what knowingly means. No need for abuse.

There is a difference between a person checking every product's label before buying AND a person not bothering with the labels but refusing to buy if someone tells him its made in China.

I didn't know which category you belonged to.

I dont believe its possible for an avg man to afford a life where he checks the label every time and only buys something when its not made in China.
