Acey, I am going to give up the booze from 5th Jan til 14th Feb. There are reasons for the specific dates but I've done it before last few years and my God, how much beeter I feel is amazing. I drink quite heavily, won't ever give it up completely but I just do it to prove I aint an adict.
When I mention it to anyone, I get the lecture about just cutting back and not doing the Jan/Feb thing but it works for me, so that's what i do. Good luck to you mate. How long you going to give it up for? |

Good for you. I couldn't do it but I am sure you'll feel the difference. Just an idea (and not a new one) but maybe put aside the amount you spend on booze each week in a jar and at the end of the year treat yourself to something.

Giving up smoking was the hardest thing I have ever done this could be tougher.

Assuage the cold turkey tension by spending the savings on here imo.

I gave up smoking 7 years ago (second attempt) I don't miss it at all tbh. It f*cking stinks. If you only drink Fri to Sun, do you get bladdered every week and is it a problem. Sorry, bit public on a forum but there will be others who have demons!

Not a massive problem paul I just want to see if I can do it....My Dad and Brother were both alcoholics and I don't want to go down that road.

There will come a point when you don't miss it. My wife did the same. She didn't have a problem just couldn't go back to it after having our first child and trust me, she tried! She drank like a fish where I met her at uni. She is the life and soul of any party now and lives with me who likes a drink. She also drives us back from parties, but that's a bonus
