That's another matter, but can a foreign HGV driver get a job here with a licence obtained abroad? A bit random if so.

You can drive in France on a UK licence but if you live and work in France as an HGV driver you have to re take your test. Think OZ Australia is the same

The Post Office driver claimed ignorance of his wagon pushing another vehicle under his nose. How could that be possible? Where was he looking? Did he not feel the extra forward resistance or smell of burning tyres? Had another activity in his cab handicapped his judgement or ability to observe?

I find that shocking not noticing his wagon was pushing another vehicle at the front without his knowledge to say the least. An awareness course is the least I'd expect from the Post Office for its driver.

Post office provides periodic driver training in addition to the cpc requirements.
I also drive a Daf CF truck not the highest cab by any means but the bottom of the windscreen is still high and if you look at the photo the top of the car is lower than the windscreen. It's not the first something like as happen although its the first I heard of one of our drivers being involved. I don't any details yet on how it happened but it is likely that that photo and how it happened  will feature in future PO training courses thighs like this normally do
