It should mean that has-been Heseltine and his washed out mates, Bliar and Major will crawl back under their stones. I hope I never have to listen to their demented croaking again.

Being too much of a leftie is my greatest failing and I abhor those right wingers Bliar and Kinocchio for amassing huge fortunes off the backs of honest taxpaying workers but them other two are SPIVS and I have the backing of Comrade Anxious on this. I will now have to adjust a little to the right in order to be comfortable with the new reality but that's life. I'm well into Artemis now, lighter reading than Aubrey but entertaining. I see Kydd was drinking Haut Brion, a nod to O'Brian for the benefit of you and me. Thanks for the recommendation. |

I heard Nigel F being interviewed this morning, and asked whether he had any advice for Coogan, Grant and No-Knickers. He suggested that they go back to singing and acting, and to try and meet some people who live outside of the M25.
All very pleasing. |

In those days we had ways of dealing types like you. foinavon.
A couple dozen lashes to touch you up keeps your sort in line. Dangling from the yard arm finishes the job. I like all those historical novels (as you know much is based on various true exploits and a certain sydney smith) Lambdin's are the nearest to it for me a bit more basic and a slightly more amusing and naughty fun But Stockwin is a little more political slightly more emphasis on a 'graceful' age (but then they both are somewhat) O'Brien is considered to be the better of all these authors and recognised outside of the genre as a brilliant writer OOOh I love that word - I use it all the time at Islington dinner parties. Along with 'splice the mainbrace' or 'pass another cabin boy ............etc stuns me to think 8 year olds would carry bags of gunpowder and 18 pound shot!!! |
|
By:
and didn't they knock it back - nearly all of the authors know their wine and the royal navy lived off rum beer and wine
often half p!ssed as the sailed into battle. I can assure you it was same even when we got more modern in the 60s ho ho ho yo ho ho The tot ended in 1970 No wonder we have problems |

I haven't started Lambdin yet although I've downloaded the first book. I love the old expressions "The bottle stands by you, Mr Moisok" and yes, they did get some down but I don't think I could be persuaded out onto the yardarm without a skinful first. Having A-M abandoned in mid-ocean on their way to the Cape is almost like a bereavement, what more joys might there have been?
