Seems to me most people who would normally vote Labour have voted Conservative as they are the only party who offer a slim chance of a country that they once knew and loved. They don’t give a damn about Brexit.
If people were that motivated by immigration then surely Labour would have been obliterated in 2010 after Blair allowed about 8 million people in.
Nah it's Brexit. If people were that motivated by immigration then surely Labour would have been obliterated in 2010 after Blair allowed about 8 million people in.
Some of us also do not like the Party being hijacked by self-interested groups not conducive to UK Plc; we do not like the Party focused too firmly on buying the votes from a certain minority group.

no it was about Brexit. nobody ever doubted many working class labout voters were at best zenophobes - Brexit gave then a chance to articulate their prejudices. now they'll have to live with the results because they will be the ones that suffer

Only partly to blame Brexit, many of the people I talked with hated the IRA supporting leadership, understandable when so many working class voters served in the military or had sons and relatives over the last 50 years there. Plenty didn't like the idea that Jews felt so unwelcome that they feared staying in a country we are proud of for tolerance. We could see through the shiftiness and evasiveness of the leadership response. Older voters recalled the three day week and non stop strikes of the 70's,it was a no brainer to switch votes. Labour's job now is to root out the Marxist cancer that destroyed the party last week.

I did not switch my vote, but a lot did
I preferred that society even though strikes were a bit of a nuisance
When Thatcher came in I thought she was evil, crushed the working man
What is Marxist about the Labour party?
