Oh, they shouldn't be allowed,women hair cutters try and "style" it into their interpration of what looks ok,where as the man haircutter gives you what you ask for.

'Barber' is to do with beards, clue's in the name. Today I had my hair cut so it's 'hairdresser'. Luckily I'm very happy with the size of my chap so I don't have to worry about what words I use.

just had a look at local business terms and they list mens hairdressers and barbers ...so i suppose you can take your pick really.
some list themselves as a barbers and go the whole hog ...red pole,brylcream etc .
