'Barber' is to do with beards, clue's in the name.  Today I had my hair cut so it's 'hairdresser'.  Luckily I'm very happy with the size of my chap so I don't have to worry about what words I use.

just had a look at local business terms and they list mens hairdressers and barbers  ...so i suppose you can take your pick really.

some  list themselves as a barbers and go the whole hog ...red pole,brylcream  etc .
