Jeremy Corbyn praised Mr Neville, calling it a "powerful statement" which "condemn[ed] Boris Johnson's shameful record of fuelling racism".
Powerful statement from @GNev2 condemning Boris Johnson's shameful record of fuelling racism. pic.twitter.com/GqoRT0M9iU — Jeremy Corbyn (@jeremycorbyn) December 7, 2019 Maya Goodfellow, author of Hostile Environment: How Immigrants Became Scapegoats, said: "Gary Neville calling out Boris Johnson for fuelling anti-immigration politics, which is *exactly* what the Tories are doing today with their immigration plans." |

Would Gary Neville propose we open the border and let any Tom, Dick or Mohammed in? What's the latest research on the effect of heading footballs?
|
|
By:
Is this the same Gary Neville who went to Spain and took a job off a local despite him being vastly under qualified and not speaking the language.
|
|
By:
With most of em being such promising footballers? Of course he would.

Clumsy attempt to shift blame from the club here, typical of the societal problem nowadays, anybody else a soft target ?
|

By:
It appears Neville is appropriating race to immigration. Sounds a bit racist.

Another Man with plenty of money , and plenty of GOB .

A stretch to blame Boris for the Man City Monkey Man

Corbyn fell into the trap of agreeing with Neville's idiotic comment.
Can politics sink any lower? |

Will Neville's front door be wide open Offering Lodgings to our new friends ?

Trump and Boris are responsible for the resurgence of right wing extremism. Hopefully, they will be impeached/in opposition by next year.
|
|
By:
You really have to question the mentality of the electorate at this stage.
How on earth can they suffer 10 years of toryscum austerity and still be willing to vote for them? |
|
By:
We are living in a much more competitive and vicious world than I remember in the 1960's and 1970's
We have created this ourselves...we shall just have to work though it |

The PC mob are responsible for the rebirth of right wing extremism, I do believe it was dead before Blair and Merkel got to work.

Turn it in saddo.
Think of the inflammatory rhetoric from Trump, Boris, Brexit. Empty headed red necks and gammons fall for it hook, line + sinker. |

Food banks, legal aid, police and NHS cuts, elderly care, skint councils (libraries, refuse collection).... I could go on all night.
The tories have brought the country to it's knees. 1/20 for most seats ![]() |

By:
prime minister's talking about migration to this country and people coming into this country and havng to have a certain level."
It's his kind of attitude that we can't have a grown up conversation about immigration levels over the last 20 years that has resulted in the polarising of politics. |
|
By:
Good on Gary Neviile for calling out the racists. Here are more of his thoughts on immigration.
"We have reached a tipping point. You have Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and Lionel Messi at Barcelona but in the Spanish league 63 per cent of their players are still Spanish. That sounds about right. We've gone too far in England. We're maybe 20 per cent off. We need to give chances to our own." |
|
By:
he he very good crisp
|
|
By:
"We need to give chances to our own."
Words no prime minister dare utter. |
|
By:
now where is that survey about uk population concern about immigration
of course we have to ignore the ignorant peasants and all the thickos who won't vote labour |
|
By:
I notice his sister didn't pick any foreigners for the England netball team
|
|
By:
businesses arent concerned with sentiment ,they want the best workers ... and most bosses prefer foreign workers .
Neville's a clown ![]() |
|
By:
There will always be racism. You can never get rid of it 100%. Instead, people should acknowledge how football has helped to reduce racism. People are used to seeing blacks and foreigners from many different countries playing for their clubs.

I'd like to ask Mr Gary Neville if he'd asked other minority groups of the dominance of one minority group in a town, politics, living in clusters and refuses to integrate, chooses to communicate in their own language at work too, accuses others of Islamophobia, etc. Does Mr Gary Neville live in an area where the influx of immigrants is dominant? Probably not, maybe in an exclusive area mainly for the very rich of white demographic.
How could he equate racism in football (only a sport) to racism in general? But, for commercialisation ie the large sums of money involved racism in football would have been eradicated ages ago eg ban every football fan for life if found guilty of racism in the ground. If FIFA had the gumption to do it - they did next to nothing post the racial abuse of the England players in Bulgaria - why? The football paymasters are predominantly of a lighter complexion. Maybe the subscribers to football channels in The UK could contemplate terminating their subscription to Sky, BT, etc ie vote with their feet. Until then little or nothing will be done. |

By:
can't stand neville, but he is actually correct for once about Johnson.
|
|
By:
I know for a fact johnson was right behind the fans abusing them - nevile was right OR he may have fkd up completely by getting involved and making wild accusations - a bit of a plonker getting carried away whilst winning etc etc yawn
there will be millions who remember him sticking his oar in when it wasn't needed and his timing was very questionable like jumping on the band waggon and door bolt horse lock etc |

Well we have immigration..
People would like less of it which was why people voted for Brexit I don't mind multi-culturism myself, even my own don't like me ![]() As long as they obey our laws |
|
By:
Multi colour is fine but the multi cultures definitely clash round here, we'd be better with one national culture imo.
|
|
By:
Like Neville as a pundit but this is preposterous. Bet Lineker liked!

If they clash you are right saddo

its alright gary just deflect the racist abuse from the manchester derby onto boris because we all know boris made the bloke make monkey chants
|
|
By:
Amazing that any grown up can give this opinion credence.
|
|
By:
I use to like Neville, but these sorts of comments show him up to be the hypocritical fool he is.. put neville in a terraced house in Bradford and see if he changes his views instead of a detached house away from it all living in a leafy utopia. As usual with Neville/Linekar they rarely practise what they preach, if they did they would be allowing a few poor souls fleeing war torn countries in terror and poverty clutching their smart phones to make their way to one of their numerous houses.
