How unfortunate, Alexander and Tabitha purchased their veggies from Waitrose don'tcha know only to find one's packet with a ghastly Aldi label adhering to the underside. Shocked

“I use Waitrose and Ocado for good reasons – reputation and home delivery. And I pay for the privilege.

No disrespect to Aldi or their customers but if I wanted their products I’d go to one of their stores.
The point you seem to be missing, old son, is that they are the same product!

Aye, too dim to realise Waitrose and Aldi use the same supplier. Gawd help us.Blush

The good thing about Waitrose is the lack of children running around.

Waitrose, the company that was itself conned into believing that some Chocolate Ducklings, made by machines in a factory production line, were "WAAAAAYYYYYYYCIST".

You see, some person (sanity status unknown) had complained about them, and so naturally these products had to be stripped from the shelves lest the sky fell in. Common sense didn't get a look in.

Yes, THIS REALLY HAPPENED.

I can imagine a Catherine Tate "Posh People" sketch, like when she ruined the sports day "Egg & Spoon" race by yelling out

"STOPPP, THEY'RE NOT ORGANIC!!

Then the kids, and parents, made a dash for the line of black BMW X5s!!!

I've long  suspected  that Aldi get their (same) produce further down the line from the suppliers  ... i only say this as i find Aldi's fresh veggies to tend to go  rancid a lot quicker than Waitrose's /Sainbury's  so it's a case of  eating pretty much straight away .
I think it's also obvious that you pay a hefty premium to shop in Waitrose as it is generally  free of noise'/hulabaloo/trolleys ramming into you   and most importantly SPACE to move around .

As for home delivery ,Aldi don't deliver  ...HD is supposed to be costing the companies money  Confused

Don't be so sure. There is a very popular "proper butchers shop" near me. A couple of years ago, I saw him in Tesco loading up his trolley with half-price legs of lamb.............Shocked
Report Coachbuster November 21, 2019 2:57 AM GMT
meat/eggs fish etc i believe is where the supermarkets do have their own suppliers be it good or bad .

The free range eggs in Aldi  come  from a supplier who also supply them with caged eggs  ...hmmm yeah exactly.
I have never seen caged eggs in Sainsburys  or Waitrose

Veggies from Lidl are definitely not as fresh as those from Waitrose, Sainsbury or even Tesco - that's fact - but their bakery no frill section is certainly better than Sainsbury and Tesco; there is no Aldi near me thus no idea how they'd compare.

I love the panettone from Waitrose (I bought two at 1/2 price for £10); Sainsbury is ok but too sweet for my liking.

a friend of mine worked in a jam factory . 11 mths of year churning out bog standard supermarket  stuff . 1 mth for the posher brands xmas ' with port or whisky ' stuff that is premium. same jam and most of the booze never got into it as workers brought empty flasks with their lunchboxes and poured most of it in there to take home !

Lidl a million times fresher than Aldi  ...just popped into Aldi and the amount of rotten fruit /discoloured veg  was astounding  ...bought  what i had to buy and  trotted up to  Sainsburys .

Specially select brands in ALDI are especially good as are one or two dairy items   but most of the rest i'd give a swerve

Aldi could do well to employ a person  to take the rancid fresh produce off the shelves

Report Coachbuster November 25, 2019 10:26 PM GMT
or rather  'rancid produce '  .... leave out the fresh bit

if your nearest store is an ALDI  then i 'd say use it but know the score  ...buy veg just before consuming ...check dates are well in advance  ...and know the lines   .... there is some really good quality in store ,but you have to  try/buy to find out  ....Sainsburys is similar in that some  stuff is first class  other  items are very poor .
I generally find the discount stores a bit dreary though, and busy  ...i'm  thankful i have a mini sainsbury's on my doorstep ...saves a lot of aggro
