Six hash browns and a choc milk shake, first thing. Very sad for such a young girl.

If self-induced, just deal with it and please do not waste NHS resources. If not but genetically, seek help from appropriate health departments.

I can't stand people who are overweight let alone obese.

As for living with one, you must be joking!

Don't knock it deplaster it is all some of us can get

Geoff m

People who eat themselves to 600 or even 700 lb should try to help themselves

The other problems you quote are addictive...eating is not addictive.

They're not going to do that, it would disqualify most NHS staff for treatment.
Most of them are porkers walking about with their brains in their stomachs.

How can they look after other people when they can't even take care of themselves?

Would disagree .
of course food can be addictive to some.
If yer getting pleasure with whatever then yer getting a release of dopamine in the brain.

I feel sorry for you if you are not deriving pleasure from food.

Of course they not going to do that Dr Crippen . But once yer start saying self induced ailments shouldnt be covered you open a right can of worms.

The NHS would be well off if it didnt treat drug/food/alcohol/smoking related injuries/illness.

When I was young, one hardly ever saw a fat person, now it`s a big problem.

Why? Easy answer, the arrival of American fast food outlets.

I saw a young guy today and I reckon that I could make 4 or 5 suits for myself out of one of his shirts. Crazy

lack of activity...?

Once people are confined to bed, no activity at all

except eating of course

I do not think addiction to food is comparable to cigarettes or alcohol. Has anyone seen an obese person in a famine area? I've not, thus eat healthily and less often, but drink more; indulging once in a while is ok too including the goodies eg Kfc, McDonalds, etc. And, exercise some self-control and responsibility

A modern affluent society with little exercise induces obesity, that's the downside.

Are you describing yourself, 'moisok'?

no just disgusted at people who allow it to happen to themselves and appear to be surrounded by the same type
grandad  daughter etc and you watch them waddle along with their heavily sweet loaded trolleys

I am one of those who is exposed to this sort of indulgence and gladly have fought it

I have nothing but contempt for those who don't try

I must admit when I see trolleys laden with convenient and sugary foods my thoughts immediately nhs bound. I'm lucky. I love chocolates, but can only have two pieces (posh chocs) or a mince pie or a small slice of cake; I cannot even have more than two bites of a jam roll or a doughnut

But, I can eat nuts for England esp pistachios and macadamia!

I think it' because nuts are not easily digestible or broken down thus a large amount would leave after a few hours esp if one is regular. But, consuming 500g of hazel nuts in one sitting could induce slight heart discomfort...it happened to me.
