Had they succeeded 99 % of the people who would have been blown to pieces would have been Unarmed ?

There is no doubt the aim was to shoot first and ask Questions Later It was an Execution ......

They were not on a sight seeing tour they were an Active unit That is without Doubt , I am not Singleing out the IRA

And believe the same treatment should be awaiting any Active  terror Unit ......

If we know who they are that would be a good idea

Unfortunately we don't always know until it is too late

They had their hands up.

Many needless deaths caused primarily through a few trigger happy squaddies during Bloody Sunday, they have a lot to answer for.

The SAS were afraid they had bomb triggers on them

So they felt they had to fire

was the reason given at the time

More justification than Bloody Sunday

But I cannot comment on Bloody Sunday I was not there

We asked a lot of Paras

but I don't know anything

Nor you won't know anything either(nor me),the truth only came out after 40 years despite the cover ups, same as the lies and framing of the Guildford 4 and Birmingham 6.

Lots of innocents never got the chance to put their hands up, never knew they would be strewn across the street in bits, feck them they got what they deserved and I hope they died slowly,

They posed a constant nagging threat to innocent men, women and children. They thought we'll just put our hands up and surrender, We'll live to fight another day... Wrong!

Found this quite interesting... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po-70BbWzV4

In a disturbing way.

I think the overall result was very good in N.Ireland.

We removed all the complaints of the Catholics and defeated terrorism.

If some injustice remain I am sorry.

You must remember that behind the large Catholic mobs hurling vitriolic hate, bricks, petrol bombs, etc at our soldiers.

There lurked the IRA snipers always looking to puck off our soldiers.

My recommendation would be very generous payouts to those affected by Bloody Sunday, without admitting blame.

As stated they were executed while on active duty ..........Picking out that they were IRA  is not relevant to what I am saying , Fast Forward, any terrorist cell on Active duty should receive the same treatment BEFORE THEY STRIKE ....

Anyone who is OK with blowing up Innocent people is Scum , REMOVE THEM like you would any vermin ,No foooking about with trials and all the rest of the Shyte we have to go through .

Should soldiers that shot unarmed civilians be also "removed"?

I am not "sticking up" for them, don't believe too much that comes from the British goverment on their past performances also though.

Well said lapsy..2 deplorable actions (one each side) does not make either right.

You had 2nd class citizen in Catholics many who were burned out of NI by the unionists who tried to preserve their status quo.
In protesting they were shot in the back by the British army in Derry and Belfast.
The UK made the IRA.

Murdered by the Brits, hands up,no weapons, riddled with bullets, tells it's own story.

Yes they were an active unit, live by the gun die by it blah blah, but they too had lost people prior to that day..

Ye see if you were on the list you could climb the ladder of power unhindered, murdering and killing, protected by the Brits and then turned supergrass and given a new identity with ample funding for life to keep quite.

If not you got ratted out and murdered in cold blood...

The biggest conspirator has clearly never been identified and never will because that will show how many innocent actually died, at the hands of British secret service and governments..

It is a pointless conversation lapsy.

Some think it ok for one lot to murder another but not ok for the murdered lot to murder them. Murder is murder.

They also don't realise who OG #1 is nor has been for 1,000 years!

I'll take that on board WD,probably has been done enough anyway, never agreed with any terrorism and am a pacifist but i can understand how it came about.
Hypothetically if the Irish army were asked to keep the peace in say Sunderland, shot people, how would the people of there react?
The other branch of terrorism seems to be have been based wholly on the hatred of Catholics.
By:

Ah , it was Catholics who were planting bombs and murdering innocent men women and children
By:
lfc1971
When: 19 Nov 19 16:43
Now quite how , when those atrocities were taking place you think there would be no reaction from loyalists I don’t know
If anything it is remarkable that it didn’t decend into complete civil war
I think you can thank the vast majority of the Protestant people for that

I think we did well...but it was not perfect...innocents did die..my commiserstions

But compare this to the Middle East.....where hundreds of thousands have died, the worst terrorist attack in history 9/11

and the fact we have still not solved it

I think we did well in N.Ireland

Taking these terrorists out saved countless lives.

If they had not been taken out they would have been chucked in jail for a few years and come out and just gone backed to bombing like countless other IRA members who were just jailed.

Taking them out dissuaded more terrorists because they knew the fate they were risking. Once the IRA were being taken out regularly by SAS, loyalists and rats inside their own organisation the troubles quickly came to an end.

State funded terrorism like Billy Wright etc.., countless innocents executed, no involvement in conflict. Thatcher biggest f ucking terrorist ever. Hope she's rotting in hell.
