Anyone watch this masterpiece?
Cost over £6million a show
Think the BEEB had their pants
pulled down over the cost
Don't think the CGI was that expensive

I did attempt (twice) to read the book BUT
gave up-too confusing

The reviews this morning helped me understand last nites
SHOW

God awful. I agree with every word.

‘Here’s your new Sunday night obsession…’ the BBC announcer purred, overintoned and mini-orgasmed, like she was doing an audition for a Cadbury’s Flake commercial, ‘… a dazzling drama with a stellar cast.’

My hackles rose. Did no one ever mention to her the rule about ‘show not tell’? And my hackles were right. His Dark Materials has indeed become my Sunday night obsession: how can the BBC’s most-expensive-ever drama series possibly look, sound and feel so clunkingly, God-awfully, disappointingly flat?

Yes, I know Philip Pullman’s trilogy is an extended, bitter rant against Christianity disguised as children’s entertainment......................................

An utterly abysmal "drama".

How can they expect grown ups to watch that?

No advertisers to keep them on the ball, so they turn out tripe like that and get away with it.

Did the OP really need to post about a programme which already has already been covered.

This pitiful 'fantasy drama' is almost as laughable as the "woke" version of WW2 served up by the programme that follows it, "World On Fire".  The only thing missing from that laughable piece of fiction was the sight of Trans soldiers liberating Paris and/or Concentration Camps. Every other one of the fashionable minority groups was catered for.

They could have spent this money on women's cricket.
