".......Facing earthquakes, air pollution and climate breakdown, communities across the UK fought back hard against Tory efforts to roll out fracking on a massive scale.

When the Tory government overruled local democratic decisions to halt fracking, communities did not give up. When fracking protestors went to jail, communities did not give up. And now they have forced the government to U-turn in their support for a dirty industry once described by Boris Johnson as ‘glorious news for humanity.’

It is over eight years since fracking caused earthquakes near Blackpool. The Tories owe the public an apology, and an explanation of how much public money they wasted while ignoring the science.

The next Labour government will ban fracking – whereas the Tories will only call a temporary halt to it. You can’t trust a word the Prime Minister says....."

Totally agree with banning fracking.  Rule number one - don't fk with Mother Nature!

Rubbish, if we did not take risks we would be a 3rd world country today. But then again that is what the leftist want.

Boris Johnson on fracking

“Glorious News”
“It [fracking] is glorious news for humanity. It doesn’t need the subsidy of wind power. I don’t know whether it will work in Britain, but we should get fracking right away.”
9 December 2012, The Telegraph

“Stop ****-footing around”
“we must stop ****-footing around, and get fracking. Even if we have hundreds of fracking pads, they are nothing like as ugly as windmills, and they can be dismantled as soon as the gas is extracted.”
15 September 2013, The Sun

“Give British people their mineral rights”
“Give the British people their mineral rights, and get fracking at last.
“No landowner, large or small, has any automatic commercial interest in the discovery of shale gas beneath their property. No wonder the shires are in revolt against fracking.
“It is no surprise that everyone is a Nimby – or in this case, Numby – when they are told that what is under their back yard is not theirs, but belongs to the Queen!”
30 June 2014,  The Telegraph

“Leave no stone unturned”
“If reserves of shale can be exploited in London we should leave no stone unturned, or unfracked, in the cause of keeping the lights on”.
2 July 2014, The Times quoted in The Guardian

1 Nov 2019
Fracking has become an election issue, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying he will address the "very considerable anxieties" about shale gas extraction.

With the Oil and Gas Authority expected to report this week on the links between fracking and earthquakes, the Government is reportedly considering using what are expected to be critical findings to call a pause to use of the technology.

So, no ban, simply a moratorium, to be immediately lifted should they win the election.

This sums Johnston up, and God almighty how is he in charge of the UK ?

"I don’t know whether it will work in Britain, but we should get fracking right away"

What a statement to make for any politician regardless of the party ? This is something you'd expect from a drunk in a wetherspoons to make with his mates, not a politician in public office.

Well done to the protestors for showing great resilience and digging deep
Report MALAY November 2, 2019 10:19 AM GMT
Indeed and Johnston continues to spout "the democratic vote of the people to leave is being ignored" what the tories did here was to overrule the democratic vote of the local council who on their constituents wishes and consultations with EA, voted against the fracking application.

Rubbish, if we did not take risks we would be a 3rd world country today. But then again that is what the leftist want.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Britain today are living in conditions and leading a life that is akin to a third world country. And all down to 9 years of totally uneccessary austerity measures by this Government.
The old, the young, the sick, the infirm, the unemployed, the working poor, those on UC, the homeless, the tenants of unscrupulous private landlords.
If you're poor, you're broken and forgotten. Whilst the rich get richer under an elitist, arrogant and self entitled Tory Party, who couldn't give a shlt about large swathes of our society.

We should work WITH nature and not against it.  When it rumbles, it's a warning.

We already have electricity pylons everywhere

Wind Farms look better than them imo
Report Ibrahima Sonko November 3, 2019 12:10 PM GMT
You clearly dont care about bats and birds that are being killed by wind turbines.

Pylons kill nothing.
Report UBLE/REGY November 3, 2019 12:33 PM GMT
No I did not Ibrahima

Perhaps something can be added to scare birds and bats away?
