A total of 16 plantiffs ,10 Edison and 6 PG&E allege have suffering health effects from the new wireless meters ranging from headaches,loss of sleep and tinnitus to heart attack.Cancer and medical implant interference/defibrillator shut offs".
The utilities are being charged with negligence fraud and deceit,product liability and intentional infliction of emotional distress"."The suit alleges the defendants withheld impotant safety information associated with the use of Smart Meters as well as multiple violations of California law including California civil code section 1710 which deceit as an untrue assertion or suppression of a fact so as to mislead".

yeah I saw that advert - they've changed from saying that "smart meters are great because people now know that if you turn on a lot of stuff you use a lot of power" to "smart meters are great because they give us info about the power people are using". That is just as stupid a reason as their first one.

I have one, courtesy of n-power...
It's a long way from the main living areas, including where I spend much of the day.... Just got a statement (electric only) and £11.26 in credit with £55.00 per month direct debit.... I need to look deeper into this, as I know that my daily usage is, for most days, less than £1.00 and at most £1.60, on days where the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier have been used.... |

My objections are that they provide me zero advantage, could be hacked and are part of the idiotic scheme to have everything in a house connected to the internet. It is unclear what advantages they provide the power company other than remote readings (which don't work if you change contract).

From 1952 to 1966, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) dumped about 370 million gallons of chromium-tainted wastewater into unlined wastewater spreading ponds around the town of Hinkley, California, located in the Mojave Desert (about 120 miles north-northeast of Los Angeles).[1][2] PG&E used chromium 6, or hexavalent chromium (a cheap and efficient rust suppressor), in its compressor station for natural-gas transmission pipelines.[1]:[3] Hexavalent-chromium compounds are genotoxic carcinogens. In 1993, legal clerk Erin Brockovich began an investigation into the health impacts of the contamination. A class-action lawsuit about the contamination was settled in 1996 for $333 million, the largest settlement of a direct-action lawsuit in U.S. history. In 2008, PG&E settled the last of the cases involved with the Hinkley claims. Since then, the town's population has dwindled to the point that in 2016 The New York Times described Hinkley as having slowly become a ghost town.[4][5] |

Never appealed to me - can't really see the benefits.
I don't care if I overpay on an estimated bill as will get the money back when I can be bothered to submit gas/electric readings. I don't need to look at a smart phone to realise that will use less energy when the heating / lights/ TV etc. are turned off . Guess some people like the ability to remotely turn on heating before they come home but not for me. |

Ok, I got one as nothing to lose but, as with schemes pushing free, or 50% off insulation measures, what has to be asked is,
"who pays for all of this"? The answer of course is we all do, just like we pay shop prices which include a levy to cover "shrinkage" aka theft! Just like we pay high vehicle insurance, for insurers to claw back losses, from uninsured drivers! |

it is like something out of 1984 I find it rather spooky I can see myself with barbed wire all around the property yah know - like the last resident in the street before they knock it down When I go out people will scowl and spit at me as the only person in the village without a so called smart meter being followed by the 'meter' patrols hahahah |

I don't something fitted to my house that may be a fire hazard, zap me with EMFs + spy on me.
I ditched E-on a few months ago because their cheapest tariffs now require a smart meter being fitted, now with Shell Energy who are a lot cheaper and no smart meter needed. |

What else can people find to moan about? I thought smart meters were a gimmick until I had one fitted last summer. What a great tool it is. I can see when and where I am spending money on energy when I don't need to and I could not care less if my power company can see what I am doing! What a backward, negative country we have become. Suspicious of everything and petty as you like. There is nothing wrong with Smart meters unless your life is so dull you are looking for issues to become worked up about. BTW - I was equally skeptical about Sky Plus until I had that fitted a few months back, as well. A massive, massive improevment on the Sky I had before. But wait...perhaps Sky are slowly killing me across the ether and spying on me as they do so. For f*cks sake! |

Northern California is under a multi-layered attack and not just by smart meters. For the pasted month it's been heavily chemtrailed, laying out fresh combustible metals all ready for the directed energy weapons.
In the coming days, weeks and months massive houses and buildings are going to be burned in fires so hot that nothing will remain but ash just a few inches high and the trees nearby will still be standing. Cars will melt at the side of the road but nearby trees will still be standing..untouched. |

California has had wildfires for tens of thousands of years. As such, the native tree species tend to be highly resistant to fire.
California’s climate can best be described as “cool wet winters, hot dry summers”. Trees tend to be drought resistant, as does the grassland and other plants in the area. Any plant life that couldn’t withstand fire and drought just didn’t make it to the present. |

Thanks. That sounds like a more believable explanation than 'The trees don't have smart meters'. Still the images are quite unbelievable. If the trees were were partly destroyed but recovered again, it would make a lot more sense. But the fact that not a leaf has been damaged and they are still green, it is quite a thing! Well done nature.

Take the redwood. The bark on a redwood is very thick and the canopy is very high.
It takes a hot, hot fire to get through the bark (which is nearly fireproof) and a very large fire to reach the flammable leaves. The same is true of the sequoia. Bristlecone pines, which can survive extreme drought, can be five thousand years old. you don’t make it that long without being able to survive a fire, or fifty fires. |
