So Buck House,Sandringham,Balmoral Castle etc, owning vast amounts of land all over the world, the Crown jewels,a golden horse carriage, untold treasuries etc etc etc only adds up to £1.6bn? Somebody cant add it all up,some kind of a mistake surely, but why?
|
|
By:
Think most of that stuff is public property Terry
|
|
By:
She does own Balmoral and Sandringham.
As for Buck House, does she pay rent? |

Great chucks of Canada, australia to boot gawd help us

She doesn't own most of the palaces
In the same way that Boris doesn't own Downing Street/ Chequers. £1.6bn is a pretty decent chunk of money. |
|
By:
The carriage used in"53 is solid gold and its worth over a billion of its own,so as I say someone has had an error it would seem. The whole thing is solid Gold-do the maths.

It's not the same though, is it? The PM is elected and only gets to use those residencies when in office. |

Lets throw in Kensington Palace, have you seen the prices in London?

The Queen is in Office. She is head of state of UK. If UK every voted (or had violent revolution) to become a Republic then somebody else would live there (maybe an elected President) |
|
By:
Sorry but you appear to make it up as you go along. I think if anyone stops a has a think about £1.6BN is way under-just saying.
|
|
By:
she also owns about a mile out into the sea of all the coast around britain alledgedly ,also some parts of the countrie where if someone dies and dont leave a will she cops that alledgedly ..............pays for the petrol and treats for granchildren !

The carrige of 53 would fall to bit very quickly if it was made of gold.

As already pointed out the carriage is not sold gold. Cost about £8k 250 years ago. That amount is worth well over £1m with inflation or £14m if look at relative spending power. Pretty expensive for a "car" . Bot 1) The Queen does not own it & 2) hardly worth billions. If it was sold it would just go from one museum to another. Hardly going to put a dent in the national debt. |

if you belive she is only worth 1 6 billion then look out your window and tell me how many fairys you can see in your garden.

i saw a programe on tv years back ,they had a room in buckingham palace( a pokey little box room) as you would imagine Q! about the size of the london palladium it was full of gifts from all over the world ,well one can never have enough !.

Doyle's
What exactly is she supposed to do with gifts from other countries- sell them on e-bay? Yep that won't cause offence would it. Apart from Carlton House how many of these gifts does she actually care about? |
|
By:
iirc when asked what they would do with all those gifts , the answer was most will be destroyed ................... why not give them to charity .
|
|
By:
Giving to charity sounds fine with me - especially if some/all the money raised helps relationship between the two countries.
Or she could just have more visits to countries where head of state has loads of group one winners at a stud farm. |
