Judge John Potter said the horrific events began at around 4pm when Habibur Rahman manager of his family's restaurant the Baytree in Blackley, 'took offence' at the driving of an elderly woman on Church Road.

"You shouted abuse at her and two tree surgeons passing by intervened.

"A scuffle took place between Habibur Rahman and one of the tree surgeons."

Rahman then made it clear that he had been 'disrespected' on his 'territory' and decided to enact 'swift retribution', the judge said.

The tree surgeons were tracked to the property they were working on nearby and were quickly confronted by Rahman and a mob that rapidly grew in number.


Speaking from his car, Rahman made chilling threats, saying: “I am not going to let them leave.

"They’re going to get what they deserve. They’re going to get stabbed."

In interview, Rahman claimed he was subjected to racist threats from the four tree surgeons.

But sentencing, Judge Potter said this was a 'pack of lies'.

When I went to london 6 years ago, a black guy entered the tube with a pram. As the train moved, I bumped into the pram. The guy started muttering something in anger and my friends took me by the arm and moved a few steps away(I was trying to apologize to the lad). As we got off they told me no matter what you do, don't get into an argument with anyone in london(By anyone they implied darker skinned people, you get the point). This was 6 years ago.

This should be standard advice in UK now.

I was attacked by a mob of asians many years ago when one seemed to take exception to something and confronted me on a street. At this stage he was on his own so I confronted the scrawny runt who ended up slithering off too cowardly to do anything  but I noted he was on his phone as he disappeared around the corner. About 5 minutes later a mob of between 10-15 from the pakistani community care around the corner  running towards me - one lobbed a brick and several were brandishing sticks etc. I ended up running into a local pub with the place surrounded by them but they didnt actually enter, merely waiting for me to leave. I had little alternative but to call police who said they were basically too busy to come out but fortunately they ended up fcking off- it could easily have ended up very differently and no doubt had I been seriously injured it wouldnt have gone down as racist despite cries of " you white c*nt" etc from them.

This was greater Manchester as well btw but it happens everywhere

What sane individual would wish to start a fight with a workforce that possess such things as chainsaws ?
Maybe they saw the word 'surgeon' on the side of their pick-up and assumed they couldn't produce anything more lethal than a scalpel
