Haringey Borough have walked off the pitch during their FA Cup match against Yeovil Town after their goalkeeper suffered "horrendous" racial abuse from sections of the away support.

The home side left the field of play in the 64th minute after Douglas Pajetat, from Cameroon, had objects thrown at him while preparing to face a penalty.



Pajetat told BT Sport he had been racially abused and spat at before facing the spot kick, which after a long delay was converted by striker Rhys Murphy.

The fourth-qualifying-round tie was abandoned soon after with the score at 1-0.



Haringey Borough tweeted: "Game has been abandoned following racial abuse. Horrendous afternoon. It must be said that 99.9% of @YTFC fans are also disgusted by what's happened as much as we are. One club, one community."

The players returned to the pitch some time after the incident "as a show of solidarity".

Good timing.  Underdog side.  Held out until well into the 2nd half, go a goal down due to a penalty.  Then walk off.

If the match is replayed they should start where they left off - the 64th minute and Yeovil 1-0 up.

If your team ever reaches a cup final , go in the home end taking an old codger with a dodgy cough that may or may not sound like a monkey. If its going t1ts up , give the old timer a cup of pepper standing behind the goal that could sound like a mating call of a chimp when having a coughing fit. Even if the keeper is white , he could claim racism if he has a hint of a tan... game is abandoned, your team wins 3-0. Surely its a better tactical plan than a 4-4-2 against superior opposition.

Incidentally what would betfair pay out on if the game was abandoned- I assume a 3-0 win for the poor souls that were abused by some kid in a hoodie

I agree that teams walking off is not the answer. I also agree that giving the players a bit of stick is fine too as long as it isn't racist. Somehow the people doing it need to be arrested and ejected from the ground.

not strictly relevant but i was in a rugby match where we walked off because the forwards reckoned a couple of their
players were drunk and just trying to injure someone. only about 15 mins in and after a couple of "incidents" the
forwards all went to the ref and said that was it, the players stank of booze and were out of control.
They got awarded the win, we got sanctioned and fined. Ah them were the days

What really made me laugh was the front row players saying that quite often they smell the night before beer on the
opposition breath at scrum time but they could tell this was drunk today booze breath.

i always thought it would be voided   ....  some  3-0s on here are 1000 before start of play  so surely BF wouldn't let that result stand
