So....we are all going to be whizzing around in electric vehicles, in the not too distant future, so that begs some serious questions!
There are close to 40 million vehicles on the UK's roads, of which half a million are trucks....
Questions.....
From where does the power come to support the demand? As I understand it. we have to take power from France, just to support those switching on their kettles. during the break on some major TV broadcast event! Imagine just 10% of these vehicles being on charge at any one time!
What new excuse will be given, to claw back lost revenue from fuel sales?
The half million trucks. probably churn out pollutants equal to three times that that of cars. and seeing as there is no way they can be electric, the best they can do would be to convert them to LPG!
Car mechanics, fuel tanker drivers etc....what the hell will they do?
High mileage van drivers, company reps on the roads, coach tours and airport transfers......
there is massive environmental damage from mining the precious metals needed for the batteries. apparently our government's plan would need the annual entire world production for one of these metals so no one else could buy them, fairly obviously that isnt going to happen. once the batteries are finished with they cant be recycled very easily. and yes how do we power them? some bright spark already saying they should be heavily taxed to make up for the shortfall on petrol. all in all a not very well thought out policy.

I'm all for electric cars to reduce the pollution around towns. But according to the reports their range is far too limited with charging points a problem too. The manufactures can't be trusted on the figures they're giving out either, so I won't be buying one yet.

Useful to keep in the car, especially if you don't do many miles in the winter. Even a newish battery can run flat with the everything on all the time.
£65

Dr C. it's a portable power pack I charge mine in a normal 3pin socket it has two leads for the battery just connect them and turn the key. no cigar lighter involved although you can charg it that way but is you have a dodgy battery why drain it unnecessarily.
Brilliant, thanks for the tip. Dr C. it's a portable power pack I charge mine in a normal 3pin socket it has two leads for the battery just connect them and turn the key. no cigar lighter involved although you can charg it that way but is you have a
