A vote again in 5 years

Because Leaving was too vague. Cameron was so confident he'd win the referendum, or so stupid, that he never established what Leave meant. Leave on what terms? And btw, if you look at what the Leave campaign said, it was clear they expected to leave with a deal of some sort.

So for the last three years, we've been arguing about what sort of deal.

love it when remainers say no one knew what leave meant. of course by remaining they know for sure what horrific route the EU will have gone down in say 10 years time. it's bad enough now

remainers voted for the status quo so they knew exaxtly what they were voting for. leavers didn't have a clue - and most still don't.

We must honour the will of the people.......or words to that effect!

People originally voted for nothing more than a common trading agreement, not the bureaucratic behemoth we see today. Disingenuous to say people know what the EU intends for them, they don't. Ask people around you if they know the next 3 countries waiting to join, less than 2% would have a clue.

There has been virtually NO debate about the EU itself and what it has become.

No discussions as to its ultimate goals etc. All we hear is about trade and therefore money. It's tiresome. The EU wants to swallow up the entire continent under one set of rules, one flag, currency, president(s), domestic AND foreign policy, one army etc etc.

As for a supposed deal, that part would always come AFTER we leave, not before.

I reckon in 5 years time we will still be part of the EU and would not have taken control of our borders. The farce has only just begun.

Albania is one of them, we have been helping fund their infrastructure for years in readiness. Greece could not afford to enter the EU so were told to pretend they could, look what happened to them. Albania is a largely lawless country, likewise, as soon as they can pretend they are not they will be in. Another drain on the two or three net contributors, and Albania will empty in a month.

I've yet to hear one debate as to the aims and objectives if the EU.

Plenty of guff about the details of trade etc but NOTHING on the workings of the EU, its plans for the future and ultimate goal.

I might be a bit thick and missing something here, but if Northern Ireland staying in the EU for customs reasons is such a good idea, how the hell is the rest of us being out of it better. They are either screwing them over or screwing us ?

Its only a matter of time before someone snaps and something daft happens,this behaviour is becoming ridiculous.

Either we leave or it's best no one bothers voting for anything again as it makes democracy useless. Very few voting leave thought " well I want to leave but only if we get a good deal". The majority want out which a crying mob or morons just cant accept regardless of any " deal".  The liberal " democrats " campaigning to ignore a democratic vote and remain is one of the funniest things I've ever seen as they strive to be taken seriously by a pathetic move to breathe life into their disingenuous party of idiots which has never recovered after the tuition fees fiasco.

Saw an idea the other day that was interesting. A second referendum but not just a 50.01% winner takes all:

Remain gets 49.9% or less - then we leave by whatever version is being proposed at that time.

Remain gets 60% plus - then we remain

Remain gets 50-59.9% - then we get a cooling off period of five years with a further vote legislated.

as long as the premier league cash mountain continues I would vote for anything to keep it there

ps Implement the original vote then we can look again maybe in another 40 years or you give munitions/succour to those who wish to tear our country down

Look at them wriggling to undo a fair vote which they lost. No shame or dignity at all. ^^^

The remain mob will conjure up any fanciful idea to remain in the EU whilst purporting to be "democratic". Even if this laughable 2nd referendum was granted and won by the leave contingent we would the europhiles delaying proceedings once again for so long in order to say " Well its been x number of years since the last vote and many have died that voted and the 16/17 year olds couldnt vote" It's a never ending cycle these clowns will perpetuate indefinitely with them doing anything to stay in the EU.

The hilarious concept of " if remain get less than 50% we will leave by whatever version is proposed " when no version is agreed, no deal is agreed, parliament wont allow a no deal and the EU allows extension after extension basically meaning we are back to square one is up there in utter stupidity.

Even the Vote Leave campaign was talking about leaving in 2020. Why the rush for the end of this month? Looks like it was a date President Macron plucked out of thin air, that Boris latched onto. #TakeBackControl.

5 years? Just as The UK are reaping the fruits of our divorce from The EU another Referendum? Divorce is (usually) for good, it entirely different to privatisation or nationalisation.
