When I was young, good manners was the norm and ill mannered people really stood out. Now the reverse is nearer the truth in many places.

It's Twitter isn't it?
What is it, a couple of hundred bytes or so, to get across your point. Nuance? Civility? 'You might be right but have a care my good man'? And yet look at the number of news reports quoting from this medim of lunacy, as if it were a fount of insurmountable truth, rather than a bunch of ****s yammering into the void. |

All the tools created by the self proclaimed good mannered generation and poor kids get the blame

A state of ignorance is easily achieved, thus is highly alluring to those who are unwilling to put in the effort to become informed.

Apparently, it offers a blissful life experience to those attracted to its effort free achievement.

Sadly so! All the tools created by the self proclaimed good mannered generation and poor kids get the blame Cry If only they had brought up these kids with better values.I don't ashley blame the kids. I always blame the parents and in the absence of their parents I blame society. My generation, the last of the baby Boomers were the worst parents! Society showed them that many of our people are above the law. The ones that own The Country. Now these feral kids are finding out they can operate below the law and why shouldn't they given the example of the rich and powerful! That leaves us law abiding tax payers in the middle ! |

Nothing to do with class or political parties.
The only thing that changed was that people were allowed to get away unacceptable behaviour. We went soft on discipline. Which starts with a little tolerance here and a little tolerance there, till suddenly little Jimmy realises he can get away with it. So he does and others follow until there is simply too much to cope with and then the floodgates are open. And anyone who suggests any meaningful sanction to try and reverse the trend gets shouted down by the hand wringers. Who are the very people who let it all slip in the first place. |

A very civil thread. The glaring exception being the German who is convinced his chancellor is part of a global conspiracy against the masses, but is typically happy to be dragged along with it regardless. My daughter is the epitome of good manners btw.

Most people can be well mannered when it is to their advantage.
If they see no advantage, no down side then why bother? |
