nature knows best , and red grapes

No need to go through all that peeling nonsense (well not if you don't have company)...

Just half it, or quarter it, or sixths it (dependant on size) or get a good juicer, and make a batch for a few days,
or do what most people do, and buy one that promises to be 100% juice, and not from concentrate!

Having said that, I would like to know how, and why, it was concentrated in the first place (never understood that one),
and then, I guess, what is the percentage of subsequently added water?

I never checked packaging, but I will be surprised if added water is an ingredient, seeing as pure orange juice
must be not far off 100% water, in any case!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

An onion a day keeps everyone away.

Can't get enough of grapes lfc....

Not since Tesco have been doing a large palette (can't quote the weight at the mo, but brilliant value compared with the usual offerings)!

Five portions of fruit a day should give you enough wind to play a tune.

It's called the F diet.

the orange is also good for making you think clearer,so start your vitamin c system straight away and soon the winners will come flooding in as you think clearer,i think i will start a VITAMIN C SUPPORTERS CLUB,AND or course the club colours will be orangeLaugh
Report lybertyne October 5, 2019 5:37 PM BST
More vitamin c in a kiwi.

The orange was orginally called 'norange'.  Saying 'a norange' sounds like 'an orange' and so it lost the initial 'n' and became the modern 'orange'.
Report Dr Crippen October 5, 2019 5:43 PM BST
I love fruit.

When we were kids although were very poor, we always used to get an apple and an orange in our Christmas stocking.

Between the three of us.
Report DenzilPenberthy October 5, 2019 5:50 PM BST
In recent years the christmas satsumas have been below par from years ago imo.think they store them for months now and taste bland.
Report trilby22 October 5, 2019 6:20 PM BST
Re grapes, is it true seeded are better for you that seedless?  Is that GMO in action?

Although i don't eat to much, have always loved fruit, those large oranges, fresh pineapple, ( not tinned ) is, or rather was my favourite and kiwi's i loved also, but can't eat any of them now as citrus fruit like this now gives me horrendous mouth ulcers. if i avoid them i don't get any, i miss eating them SadSad
Usually stick to blueberries now, banana, or mango which i blend together with that skyr yogurt.
very enjoyable light snack.
Report trilby22 October 5, 2019 6:29 PM BST
Aye, properly ripe juicy mangoes are superb.  Reduced price in Tesco this morning.  Excellent cut up with a sliced banana.  Nectarines and peaches nb.
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 6:29 PM BST
No pineapple and kiwi aren't classed as official citrus like oranges, but they still nail me Sad
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 6:30 PM BST
i get the big jars from costco trilby, mango's that is, there superb..

Fresh pineapple gives me a slight oral irritation problem these days.  Tongue and cheeks.
Report Dr Crippen October 5, 2019 6:31 PM BST
horrendous mouth ulcers.

Interesting that TNT.

Lists of foods that precipitate migraine usually contain oranges. It's regarded by some as a major trigger.
Mouth ulcers are one of the conditions associated with migraine.

Though easily to get rid of once the offending foods are identified.
Report Dr Crippen October 5, 2019 6:33 PM BST
Yes trilby, that tells us something doesn't it about these so called health foods?
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 6:34 PM BST
mmmmm interesting that dr crippen, don't suffer migraines, but obviously have suffered from the other, an yes, it was a case of eliminating the problem, certainly would rather be without them, horrible things..
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 6:42 PM BST
remember one year on holiday in corfu, first morning had 2 glasses of gorgeous freshly squeezed orange juice with all the bits, 2 days later could barely talk let alone eat. good god, horrific..
Report DenzilPenberthy October 5, 2019 6:44 PM BST
The bromelain in the pineapple can cause irritation which I know what trilby means it's like being nettled.
A few years ago I tried an old bodybuilders trick for fat loss which is known as the Hawaiian spot reducing diet where you eat a lean protein i.e lean beef, lean chicken, lean fishmand as much pieapple or papaya as you like 3 or 4 times per day and the enzymatic activity from the pineapple (never seen a papaya) has the desired effect whilst sparing muscle.
Didn't get very far for the reason trilby mentioned it's definitely a thing and it's worse eating the stuff closest to the core.
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 6:46 PM BST
used to eat pineapple for that exact reason denzil, used to really enjoy it to
Report DenzilPenberthy October 5, 2019 6:48 PM BST
Now I buy fresh pineapple cut it up then freeze it and have a smaller amount in healthy smoothies and if you have greens in them it takes away any bad flavour.

So it did work then TIN?
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 6:51 PM BST
maybe denzil, as you say an old bodybuilding myth, my diet was always clean and still is, although at 53, if i veer away from it and have a bit of a blow out i can put half a stone on in no time.
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 6:53 PM BST
always look forward to Sunday mornings as its double porridge LaughLaugh
Report DenzilPenberthy October 5, 2019 7:04 PM BST
if i veer away from it and have a bit of a blow out i can put half a stone on in no time.

Good thing is though you know it's just water, sugar and salt so quick to reverse when you switch back.
Depending on what I eat and how I exercise I can have 7-8lb shifts in a day you'll probably be similar if your diet's normally clean.

Porridge and berries is a good option with some healthy seeds if you like eating porridge, lately I've been blending mine with fruit and drinking it.
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 7:30 PM BST
i get that honeycombe honey denzil, which is still in the wooden frame and cut a small chunk of it out and melt in mine whilst cooking it, it's not cheap, but it's on a totally different planet from the **** you get in jars, other than that, maybe a few berries as you say or a scoop of protein powder.
Diet is mainly the same from day to day, people probably think it's boring, but it's never bothered me, its second nature and i actually enjoy eating what i do, my downfall is probably a really good burger....there was a pub restaurant literally a stone throw away from where i used to live, that did the best one i've ever eaten, it was fused with blue cheese, although a restaurant they used to do take outs for me as i used to call in there maybe 4 nights a week, was devastated and shocked when it closed down to be turned into an indian...could easy eat 2 or 3 of the things, probably did me a favour, burgerholics anonymous was my next step Laugh
Report DenzilPenberthy October 5, 2019 7:44 PM BST
Aye it's amazing how easy to eat alot of not so good food.
It's years since I've had honeycomb my teeth are itching just thinking about it.
Report TINnotaTON October 5, 2019 7:47 PM BST
lol, i get it from cartwright and butler if you want to reminisce, as i say its not cheap, but the frames are over 2kg in weight, its awesome tasting stuff..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bromelain

Bromelain is an enzyme extract derived from the stems of pineapples, although it exists in all parts of the fresh pineapple.[1] The extract has a history of folk medicine use. As an ingredient, it is used in cosmetics, as a topical medication, and as a meat tenderizer.[1]

No wonder it irritates!  Thanks for the info, Denz.
