They'll vote to stay part of the UK.  Independence is the SNP's raison d'etre and by losing TWO votes in just 6 years, they will be severely weakened.

How would they view having a land border like Ireland,a backstop that pleases the EU would be ironic?

I think we will need to sell Scotland to Donald Trump to bring in some cash. He can build the wall.

Would only vote to remain part of the UK if the UK has remained part of the EU.

As an Englishman I would hate to lose Scotland from the Union - it would also leave England and Wales in an almost endless Tory nightmare where middle England voted the evil twwats in repeatedly

Produce your proof kennybhoy.

Would only vote to remain part of the UK if the UK has remained part of the EU.
Nonsense angoose. In the White Paper issued by the SNP for indyref1 it clearly stated that a vote to remain in the UK might see Scotland taken out of the EU.
Despite that only just over a third of the electorate voted for independence.

@FatherMacguire. You'd need to ignore the English Out banners that the cult members take to their rallies.

Logically consistent as a Brexiteer, beleiving in small, local government, I think Scottish Independence (or giving them another vote on it) is perfectly sound.

For the life of me though I can't understand why they want to throw off the shackles (as the Independence movement would see it) of Great Brtain, for the dead hand of EU fedaralism, bit there's plenty of logical inconsistencies in the SNP's approach to politics that cannot be fathomed.

Hanx, the SNP stance is dictated very much by what they perceive the English want, just oppose that and backfit the explanation. Its called racism anywhere else but, curiously the SNP get a good reception because they manage to portray themselves as the underdog.

I wonder how long it would take to negotiate a leaving treaty if Scotland voted to leave.

The SNP are a a shower of snakes ,they have had the vote the craved and this vote was carried out in full knowledge of the upcoming European Union referendum .There is a large amount of people in Scotland who want another indy referendum if the UK does NOT Leave the EU but the SNP would not agree to hold one regardless of the EU referendum outcome .Furthermore the referendum was in there words a once in a generation vote ,hence them changing the rules and allowing sixteen year olds the vote . They campaigned heavily in schools ignoring the agreement on only going into schools in a debate style platform with both sides (yes / no ) in attendance . It was a once in a lifetime/generation vote and the next cannot imo be held for at least 70 years and then if they win that the next and deciding vote will be on a further 70 years . And if they lose that of course it will be first to three and not best of three ...ect then best of five ,ten ,ect ect ad infinitum. They make the rules up as they go along ,enough is enough ,they had their vote ,Cameron gave them more powers ....give them an inch they take a mile .

I think they should have an independence vote but regionalise it like they did with Ireland you would then end up with Glasgow and Dundee being the new Scotland and even Edinburgh where the Scottish parliament is would be Unionist how that would work would be interesting you would have a hard border in Scotland between New Scotland but Unionist Scotland would have a soft border with England

How about giving the English a vote as to whether we want Scotland in the UK?
