He wears jeggings and is admittedly a bit weak and feminine looking out of character but seems on the level to me.

Agreed, his performances easily dwarfed the others. I suspect that trying to please the BBC Diversity department may have had a hand in the decline of 'Peaky Blinders'. The main character mysteriously turns into a Socialist politician (after years as a full-blown capitalist) and so naturally Sir Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts had to be parachuted into the story. The Diversity department had an even bigger scalp a few months ago, with 'Poldark'. Who would have thought that early 19th century Cornwall would have been such a politically 'progressive' society? And where an ethnic minority female 'freed slave from Honduras" character could move with confidence, freedom and ease not only in Cornwall but in metropolitan London and fashionable society? At least 'Poldark' has now had the grace to bow out, admittedly on such a ludicrous note. Surely 'Peaky Blinders' must now be put out of its misery? I suppose there's still time for the show to see an alliance between Tommy Shelby's Progressive Socialist Criminal Peaky Blinders Gang and a prototype 'Black Lives Matter' organisation operating out of Small Heath, and the Miners Union? |

I watched the whole of series one with the wife and we thought it was just about good enough to keep us going but ultimately we were disappointed, the way everybody was raving about it I was hoping it would be up there with The Wire, Breaking Bad, Sopranos and Fargo but it came nowhere close. The final episode was, however, superb and elevated it to another level imo (but it was still no Wire, BB, Sops or Fargo). 7.5/10

I would think you must be in a very small minority of people who preferred the first few seasons of Peaky Blinders to Breaking Bad.

I've tried to watch it, drawn in by all the hype, but it literally bored me to tears.
